I previously broke down the top 50 players in the OK Conference in several articles last week. While these seven prospects from the 2023 class barely missed the cut, they should not be overlooked as they each have the ability and opportunity to become household names sooner rather than later.
Jordan Briggs Jordan Briggs 6'0" | PG Muskegon | 2023 State MI , 5’10” G, Muskegon 2023″
Jordan has been one of the most talked-about guards in the 2023 class due to his development this past grassroots season. Jordan was one of the premier ballhandlers on the circuit this summer and has continued to diversify his game offensively. Jordan has already proved to have a well-established mid-range game and should have a chance to be a focal point of Muskegon’s program as he enters his sophomore season.
Tyran Thomas Tyran Thomas 6'4" | SG Northview | 2023 State MI , 6’2″ G, Northview
Tyran has put in a ton of work this offseason and looks ready to be a contributor to a loaded Northview team. Tyran has great size for a sophomore and has started to use his length to be a productive player on both ends of the court. Tyran has flashed potential in his ability to penetrate the defense with his dribble-drive and an ability to score in the midrange. I’d expect Tyran’s energy and motor to be crucial to Northview’s potential for success this season.
Man I miss playing

Harrison Sorrelle, 6’5″ G, Grand Haven
Harrison brings a great mix of size and skill to a Grand Haven team that should contend for the OK Red title this season. Harrison has the ability to knock down perimeter jumpers consistently and he can take his man off the dribble and score in the paint. Standing at 6’4″, Harrison has the length to be a disruptor on defense, and the advantage of creating his own shot in the Bucs halfcourt sets.
Kaden Brown Kaden Brown 5'10" | PG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2023 State MI , 5’10” G, Catholic Central
With Devon Boyd Devon Boyd 6'0" | CG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2020 State MI now playing at Aquinas College, Kaden Brown Kaden Brown 5'10" | PG Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2023 State MI will step in at point guard to lead one of the best teams in the state in Division 2. Kaden has flashed one of the more all-around games for a sophomore, showing he can get a bucket in a variety of ways. He’s a knock-down shooter who can fill it up from the mid-rage to beyond the perimeter. Kaden’s also a gifted passer who should rack up assists this year for the Cougars.
Shawn Foreman Shawn Foreman 5'11" | PG Comstock Park | 2023 State MI , 5’11” G, Comstock Park
Shawn is one of the better ball handlers in the 2023 class and will be looked upon to lead the Panthers in facilitating more of the offense now that Chanse Crittendon has graduated. Shawn has flashed a nice shot from the perimeter and an assortment of iso-based moves to find his shot. What I like most about Shawn’s game is his ability to create shots for his teammates in transition. His ability to get up and down the court can create a lot of positive momentum for Comstock Park this season.

Damarie Thompson Damarie Thompson 5'10" | PG Godwin Heights | 2023 State MI , 5’11” G, Godwin Heights
Damarie was called up to varsity early in his freshman season and had a promising year despite Godwin’s win total. Damarie played with a level of poise that is uncommon for freshman, showing an advanced ability to space the floor and knock down shots when given the opportunity. He and classmate Jakhary Towns Jakhary Towns 6'1" | SG Godwin Heights | 2023 State MI will be one of the most exciting backcourts to watch in the next couple of years.
Simon Neuhaus Simon Neuhaus 6'5" | SF East Grand Rapids | 2023 State MI , 6’5″ F, East Grand Rapids
Simon has the size and skill set to be one of the most promising prospects from the 2023 class. He has the ability to handle the ball well enough to play in the backcourt, and the size and strength to step inside and guard opposing forwards. Simon plays with great energy and has a habit of making plays in transition. Expect Simon to have a large role in the Pioneers’ offense this season.
