Taking a look at the top trends and players in Week 1:

Three Up:

Bowling Green - The Purples had a huge first week, going 3-0 and dominating 4th region contenders Greenwood and Barren County and then throttling reigning 1st region champs McCracken County. Six players are averaging 6 points per game or more with [player_tooltip player_id="793756" first="Isaiah" last="Mason"] leading the way at 18 per game. Senior Jaxson Banks is shooting 60% from three while averaging 13 points per game. They’re missing a couple of players right now but these Purples look really good through a week.

Covington Catholic - Another veteran group that looks to be lightyears ahead of the pack already, the Colonels rolled over Dixie Heights, Ryle and Cooper by a combined 109 points in their first week. They’ve got 6 players averaging 5 points or more with [player_tooltip player_id="926898" first="Mitchell" last="Rylee"] and [player_tooltip player_id="932777" first="Chandler" last="Starks"] averaging nearly 30 points and 15 rebounds per contest. With a frontline like that, they may not have many serious challenges in the 9th region.

2023 Guards - The Sophomore class has had a lot of hype already but they’re living up to it so far this season. [player_tooltip player_id="932765" first="Reed" last="Sheppard"] had a huge first week and is averaging over 40 points per game. [player_tooltip player_id="932767" first="Jacob" last="Meyer"] had his own 40 point game on Friday. [player_tooltip player_id="932775" first="Jaylen" last="Davis"] has been playing really well for a Madison Central team that looks like a threat to win the 11th. [player_tooltip player_id="957680" first="George" last="Washington"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1033474" first="Sam" last="Parrish"] are both having excellent starts to their Sophomore seasons. All in all, the 2023 crop looks really good. And that’s without the guards from Jefferson County being able to play.
