As the year comes to a close, here’s a quick look at some recruiting tidbits over the past couple of months with the Class of 2021.

Moving On

In November, [player_tooltip player_id="606247" first="Ben" last="Gregg"] made it official signing with Gonzaga and then in December, [player_tooltip player_id="606248" first="Nathan" last="Rawlins-Kibonge"] and [player_tooltip player_id="606254" first="Drew" last="Carter"] put pen to paper and inked with Oklahoma and Colorado respectively for football with the intentions of also joining the basketball team. All three have decided to graduate early and enroll at their respective schools this spring - in fact, Gregg is already on campus at Gonzaga and made his college debut with a four minute appearance against Dixie State.

Since they have moved on to college, they will drop out of the Class of 2021 rankings and won’t appear in the next update - which should be intriguing as Greg, Rawlins-Kibonge, and Carter represented the top three players in class so the top spots will be occupied by new players.

Other Commitments

Two other top ten ranked players in the Class of 2021 made their college decisions this fall with [player_tooltip player_id="855925" first="Darius" last="Gakwasi"] of Central Catholic committing to Princeton and [player_tooltip player_id="815599" first="Luke" last="Smith"] of Willamette signing early and staying home at Bushnell. [player_tooltip player_id="855943" first="Jonah" last="Zeller"] of Catlin Gabel followed through on his summer commitment to Concordia-St. Paul in Minnesota and signed his LOI in November.

In the Cascade Conference, Multnomah picked up a trio of in-state signees all from the Portland Metro area in [player_tooltip player_id="855955" first="Kell" last="Estep"] (Sunset), [player_tooltip player_id="855931" first="Brady" last="Grier"] (Westview), and Alex Newkirk (Oregon City). Bushnell also signed sleeper big man [player_tooltip player_id="1106395" first="Jackson" last="Gielish"] from Pleasant Hill.

At the Division III level, Jesuit sharpshooter [player_tooltip player_id="855989" first="Liam" last="Ruttledge"] committed to Puget Sound while OES guard Charles Willmot made a pledge to Williams for both football and basketball.

Offers

While it’s been relatively quiet on the recruiting front as most college coaches have been unable to attend the limited number of games going on in person, there have been some seniors who have picked up some offers or roster spots for the next level.

The Sherwood backcourt duo of [player_tooltip player_id="855956" first="Asher" last="Krauel"] and [player_tooltip player_id="606275" first="Caden" last="Davis"] have gotten the most attention recently. Krauel picked up a scholarship offer from Bushnell and also a roster spot from Pacific, while Davis has received roster spots from Pacific and Pacific Lutheran.

Athletic forward [player_tooltip player_id="855930" first="Jalen" last="Grable"] of Westview, who didn’t play football last year, has started to generate interest again for his talents on the gridiron and has picked up offers from Central Washington and Western Oregon. Grable hasn’t ruled out basketball as an option though and is still receiving interest for hoops.
