Although the camp largely featured the top freshmen and sophomores on the East Coast, a few California players from those classes took part in the event as well. Here’s a quick look at some of the CA players who made the trek to DE.
1. Derrick Hill Jr – Fairfax HS 2024
Hill is a very athletic player with great length. He gets out in transition and can finish strong at the rim. Uses his length to finish around defenders. He’s a got a solid looking jump shot from the three-point line with a quick release. Solid in the midrange too. He’s already 6’3 as a freshman with room to grow. A ton of upside.
2. Jermaine Patton – San Leandro HS 2023
Patton is a crafty dribbler who can remain under control when faced with defensive ball pressure. He can find the cracks in the defense and attack. He has solid court vision and is a true playmaking point guard who looks to get his teammates involved. Very quick player in transition who dribbles with his head up. Passes up good shots for better shots from teammates.
3. Will Smith – Bishop Montgomery HS 2023
Smith is a strong forward with good defensive instincts. He uses his length and good timing to contest and block shots in the paint. Has all the tools be a lockdown and versatile defender. Can shoot it well from the three-point line. He’s an athletic player who can run the break and finish strong at the rim.
4. Jaden Goodall – Canyon 2024
Goodall has a solid stroke from three-point range. Spots up well and can get his shot off before the defense is able to close out. When he is being guarded and forced off the three-point line, he can put the ball on the floor and make plays. He moves well without the ball, sprints ahead of the defense in transition; acts as the roll man in pick and roll situations.
