The event was held at multiple locations around the Phoenix area and featured teams from 10U all the way up to 17U. It also featured some high serious high flyers. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top R&J athletes from the event.
Kiran Oliver 6’3 SG Phoenix Prep 2021 (#9PHA 2021) – Probably makes every R&J team in America. Oliver is a freak athlete with unreal explosiveness. Gets off the ground off two and uses his athletic ability and hangtime to finish tough baskets in the paint. It was this dunk that had the entire gym buzzing
Alpha Chibambe Alpha Chibambe 6'4" | SF JSerra | 2022 CA-S 6’4 SF OC 2022 (#37PHSC 2022) – Built like a Free Safety, Chimbambe dunks on opponents without warning. When he gets a head of steam it’s over, however, he doesn’t even need that. Chimbambe had several half-court dunks with little to no launching pad available.
Marcus Green Marcus Green 6'4" | PF Etiwanda | 2021 State CA-S 6’2 SF Prodigy 2021 (featured image) (#51PHSC 2021) – First and foremost, I hope Green is ok as he suffered an injury during the weekend. The injury was suffered as he was on his way to destroy the rim yet again. Green took all of his powerful frame high into the sky for several electrifying dunks.
Isaiah Brickner 6’3 CG West Coast Flight 2021 – I heard rumors about Brickner’s R&J ability. On Saturday I was able to witness it first hand. The aerodynamic combo shut the gym down with a ridiculous two-hand jam off a dribble drive. He also caught several TJ’s throughout the weekend. Brickner plays PG for his high school team, making him one of the most explosive PG’s on the west coast.
Cedrick Coward 6’4 SF 24/7 2021 – Coward definitely fits the mode of a freak athlete. He becomes a completely different player once he gets in transition. The long rangy wing gets to the rim extremely fast when playing downhill, and not only gets up high but can also float through the lane. If that’s not enough, he also has terrific vertical ability as he finished several paint catches with thunderous two-hand dunks.
Jonathan Dillard 6’4 SF 24/7 2022 – Sometimes it’s hard to tell Dillard and Coward apart. Much like his counterpart, Dillard excels in transition and uses his speed and power to get to the rim and finish with explosive plays. His leaping ability also translates to his rebounding as the rangy wing uses a quick 1st and 2nd jump to keep possessions alive.
