Dylan Omweno (6’ 2023 G, MN Select-Koch 15u)- Dylan Omweno had some of the best offensive performances I saw this summer. The 6’ guard is a fluid athlete who plays with great change of pace, and has a crafty handle that he used to create space to get off his shot from beyond the arc. He knocked down the three ball at a high rate, and used his shooting threat to open up lanes to attack the basket and finish inside. Dylan showcased some nice feel for the game, and has the confidence to develop into a weapon on the offensive end as an upperclassman.
Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN (6’ 2023 PG, Gain Elite 15u/16u)- Sticking with point guards that can go and get a bucket, Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN scored the ball at a high level playing both 15u and 16u for Gain Elite. He’s extremely shifty off the dribble, and showcased deep range shooting the ball from beyond the arc. Nasir has a high level of confidence, and showed no problem hitting tough shots with a hand right in his face. Playing for DeLaSalle during the high school season, don’t be surprised if he develops into a strong defender as well.
Jackson Ressler Jackson Ressler 6'4" | PG Lakeville South | 2023 State MN (6’2 2023 G, Howard Pulley 15u)- Jackson Ressler Jackson Ressler 6'4" | PG Lakeville South | 2023 State MN wasn’t necessarily a big time scorer for Howard Pulley, but he was a consistent player who brought it every time he stepped on the floor. Ressler is an outside shooting threat who was able to consistently knock down the three, but has the toughness to take it to the basket and finish through contact. Defensively he could guard the opposing ball handlers or defend on the wing, and he moves his feet well and has quick hands to come up with steals.
Mario and Myles Adams (6’4 2023 F, MN Select-Koch 15u)- The twin forwards proved to be formidable forces for Minnesota Select at the 15u level. They both have a combination of length, skill, and athleticism that made them versatile threats on both ends of the floor. Each of them showed that they can guard in the paint or move their feet and defend on the wing. Offensively, the Adams twins both have range beyond the arc, can penetrate off the dribble, and have soft hands to catch difficult passes in the paint and go up and finish. Add in exceptional passing vision for forward prospects of their age, and you have two versatile prospects.
Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN (6’3 2023 G, D1 Minnesota 15u)- One of the most impressive scorers I’ve seen at the 15u level over the past few years, Taison proved to be unstoppable at times on the offensive end. His pull-up jumper is automatic when he gets in a rhythm, and he knocks it down from both mid-range and three. He also has the athleticism to hang in the air and finish at the rim over length. Defensively he showed a lot of improvements, sitting low in a stance and moving his feet to stay in front of his man. He recently added an offer from Iowa.
Khalif Bettis Khalif Bettis 6'6" | SF Burnsville | 2023 State MN (6’3 2023 W, MN Chill 15u)- Minnesota Chill had a team filled with length, and Khalif Bettis Khalif Bettis 6'6" | SF Burnsville | 2023 State MN was one of their top performers, excelling at scoring the ball from the wing and using his length to disrupt on the defensive end. Khalif often had smaller and quicker wings defending him, but used his body well to put his defender on his hip and finish around the rim. Bettis also was competitive on the glass on both ends of the floor, and found success scoring off second chance opportunities.
CJ O’Hara CJ O’Hara 6'4" | SF Park Center | 2023 State #285 Nation MN (6’4 2023 W, Howard Pulley 15u)- The physically gifted wing continued to prove himself as an elite two-way prospect. CJ showcased his versatility on the defensive end, guarding just about every spot on the floor at times. He has great mobility and coordination for his size that allows him to guard smaller players, while he has a strong build to compete on the block. Offensively he still does his best work attacking off the dribble from the wing, but was also consistent in catch-and-shoot situations beyond the arc.
Patrick Bath (6’9 2023 F/C, D1 Minnesota 15u)- From my first viewing of Patrick Bath with D1 Minnesota, I was extremely impressed with how athletic he is for a player of his height. He runs the floor extremely well, and gets off the ground quickly around the rim. Patrick also showcased a decent handle, and was seen handling the ball in transition at times. Defensively he’s a strong rim protector, and competes hard on the glass. Offensively he can score in a variety of ways, has a soft touch on his jump shot, and is able to fight through contact to complete around the rim.
