Khalif’s shot creating (and making) abilities were on full display on Sunday. It looks so effortless when he is getting to his spots on the floor and all of his moves look calculated, never wasting extra dribbles. He looks much quicker and explosive than even a couple months ago and used that to his advantage when gaining separation from his defenders. He also had a huge block in the game I saw and was a standout rebounder as well. Bettis led Burnsville to its best record since he has been there and just fell short to Jefferson in the section quarterfinals. He averaged nearly 20 points per game in his senior season.

Khalif is the definition of a tough-shot-maker. When he is getting to his spots, it is so hard to get a good contest with the combination of him being 6’5” and his quick release on his shot. He sunk numerous tough fading shots off the dribble from beyond the arc and in the mid-range. He also had an incredible full-court assist to a teammate running in transition that really caught my eye early in the game. Bettis is one of the top unsigned seniors left in Minnesota and I believe he is a Division 1 caliber prospect. He is averaging around 25 points per game to start the season.

, Burnsville has a very switchable pairing in their backcourt and on the wing. With already an above the rim game, Bettis knocking down the jumper from all over the court could be a real game changer for him and Burnsville.

is a six-foot-five-inch guard from Burnsville. Bettis plays offense like a scoring guard, on defense he’s versitle enough to guard the two or three. Offensively Bettis scores inside and out. His jump shot is ever improving with more and more confidence. His creates mismatches with his size versus smaller guards, like here where he posts up and shoots over the defender.

In a game where they were outmatched in terms of talent, Khalif helped keep Burnsville tight against a very talented BSM squad. One thing that really stood out was Khalif’s shot selection and demeanor. He wasn’t forcing up low percentage shots with his team down like I saw some last year, but instead kept the ball working and was trusting his teammates to make plays against a high level opponent. This resulted in efficient scoring at all three levels from Khalif, as he has a dangerous pull-up jumper and has become a tough finisher around the basket even through contact. On defense he never took a possession off and was tasked with defending various spots on the floor throughout the game. One of the more skilled wing scorers you’ll find across the state this season.
