Here are a few of the most impressive 2023 and 2024 recruits that played at a high level on opening day.
Quron Quezare | Point Guard | Beast Up | 2024 |This highly confident bucket getter was on his game. Quron was an offensive threat anytime the ball touched his hands. Showed off solid ball-handling skills that will only improve, Quezare likes to uses a crossover stepback when creating space for his pull-up jumpshot, and when he’s driving lane he combines his handles with his strength, and explosiveness. This aids him well, giving him the ability to bounce off of other defenders and continue to score through contact. Quron’s shot was a bit streaky, but he always knew how to get to his spots and get the shot that he was looking for. Impressive playmaking skills, Lejai knew exactly how to set his guys up, he drew in attention from the defense and dished the ball out to an open or cutting man. He knows how to get his own shot and get into the paint, Jordan has an abundance of moves in his bag, but he constantly beat defenders with his slick hesitation and crossover dribble moves to get to into the lane, and he did it all without pushing off or making silly offensive fouls. Once Lejai got inside the paint, he finished with a smooth soft-touch layup, often through contact. He looked flat out unguardable at times when pushing the ball up the court, driving the lane, and even in one-on-one situations. On the defensive end, Jordan gave great effort, picked up multiple blocks and steals, and showed good instincts, quick hands, and terrific timing. This kid has a great competitive spirit and a refuse-to-lose mentality, anybody watching him could see that he hates to lose. When his team needed him most, Lejai stepped his play up in a major way, he contested shots, hustled up and down the court chasing down blocks and steals, he never gave up despite the score on the board. Tyler Bozeman | Forward | Beast Up | 2023 |The first thing you’ll notice about Tyler Bozeman is his phenomenal length at his size. Bozeman did an excellent job of using his strength inside, he played strong and aggressive when attacking the basket, constantly went in fast and up hard every single time. An incredibly unselfish player that played with great chemistry with his teammates, anytime he drove, they cut, and he kicked it to them; also deceived the defense well, he pushed the ball full speed acting like he’s attacking the lane before the passing the ball to the open man. Very active on the glass, his effort on the boards created several second chance and fast break opportunities for Beast Up, he even did a great job of getting the rebound, starting the break, and finishing it with a bucket or an assist. A highly talented ball-handler that had guys leaning all game, once he got his man sliding he blew passed them, attacked the hole, and found open shooters, or scored off a floater or a layup. Quinton showed true point guard skills out there, he’s a quick decision-maker with the ball in hand, and an accurate passer that can make any kind of pass on the floor and put it right on the money, whether it’s cross-court or full-court. A knockdown shooter from deep when he’s in rhythm, particularly off of the pull-up or when spotting up.
