The rangy 6-foot-4, 175-pound wing from McNary admits that he ran out of gas a little at the end of last season but thanks to the time off, he’s all set to get going again, show his stuff, and hopefully see his college recruitment pick up.
While there’s no doubt Meithof wishes he’d been playing since high school ball ended, the time off has been a bit of a blessing in disguise. “I’ve been just working on my upper body because I’ve been on physical therapy for my knees to get them stronger as they were hurting toward the end of the season,” Meithof said. “So I’ve been doing that and getting some shots up. I haven’t been going too hard yet as they told me not to go hard on my knees yet.”
Meithof has been able to get going back on the court again in some limited workouts and pick-up games, and once AAU gets going full-time with the Prospects he has some goals with his game. “I want to get better at getting to the hoop and getting my handles better,” Meithof said. “And my defense.”
Largely because of a number of circumstances, Meithof noted that the recruiting process for him has been a bit “slow”, but he has been in touch with a few schools. “I wasn’t able to take my SATs before COVID hit so that’s what (schools) have been asking about,” Meithof said. “But I’ve been talking to Idaho State, Central Washington, and Princeton. I’m just going to wait to see what goes down.”
Playing full-time again he feels will help him get to where he wants to go – and he’s keeping it simple. “I’m trying to get my first offer,” Meithof said.
Meithof currently ranks as the #8 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
