It’s crazy to think that the month of July is nearing its end. Then again, the entire year has been one big ball of crazy. We saw a massive uptick with recruitment news in June despite no live evaluation periods, but that train has started to slow down. There are however familiar names still gaining steam and adding schools to their offer lists. Let’s take a look at the activity over the past week.

COMMITMENTS

2020 Westlake guard [player_tooltip player_id="900158" first="Cam" last="Tweedy"] announced that he will to a post-grad prep year at Olympus Prep. The 6-foot-5 guard was once committed to Loyola (MD), but will do a prep year in hopes to gain more attention with his recruitment. Tweedy is an intriguing prospect with solid size that low-major programs should keep on their radar.

OFFERS

2021 Frederick Douglass forward [player_tooltip player_id="712751" first="Abdou" last="Samb"] added an offer from Rhode Island. Samb has become a weekly mention in this series as his recruitment has been on a steady incline. The 6-foot-8 forward is a solid stretch four prospect with his ability to score from three and rebound at a high rate.

2021 Bishop Walsh guard [player_tooltip player_id="531258" first="Jalen" last="Miller"] received an offer from Akron. Similar to Samb, Miller is a weekly mention on the recruiting reports and largely is one of the biggest stock risers from this spring and summer. He now holds 12 total offers varying from low to mid-major programs.

2021 Rock Creek Christian forward [player_tooltip player_id="902005" first="Zaakir" last="Williamson"] was offered by Bowling Green. Williamson boasts 12 offers in total filled with solid low to mid-major programs. The 6-foot-7 big body forward is intriguing because of his versatility and strength despite being an undersized four at the college level.

2022 Wilson wing Darren Buchanan received an offer from Rhode Island. It’s his second-straight offer from an A-10 school with the first coming from George Washington. Buchanan is the no. 1 overall ranked player in our MD/DC rankings for the class of 2022 and has witnessed a nice uptick in recruitment over the past month.

2022 Gilman guard [player_tooltip player_id="777071" first="Christian" last="Winborne"] received an offer from Xavier. The Musketeers are Winborne’s first high-major offer to date as many local low-major programs have gotten involved early. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few more mid-to-high majors introduce themselves onto Winborne’s list.
