The gist of the program was this: I offered to review a prospect’s full game film and provide a detailed scouting report on that player’s strengths and weaknesses, along with some workout tools developed by a friend and trainer.
The idea quickly took off and as my email inbox filled with submissions from across the country, I thought it would be great to highlight some of those players on the Prep Hoops platform, as well. So, here are a handful of 2021 prospects I reviewed over the last few months.
Isaiah Brickner, St. Augustine – The 6-foot-3 guard was one of the better pure athletes to send his film in and this upcoming season could be a breakout one for the rising senior. With Saints graduating a good amount of its top players from last season, Brickner’s ball skills, transition scoring ability and all-around defensive presence should take off with more minutes and opportunity. Brickner could be a late-bloomer type prospect to keep an eye on long-term.
Mike Mitchell, Archbishop Mitty – The Pepperdine-commit was one of the more highly-regarded players to take advantage of this opportunity and his film didn’t disappoint. The 6-foot-2 point guard is lightning quick in the open floor and has half-court burst that allows him to blow-by on the perimeter to get to the rim. Mitchell has a smooth shooting stroke both off the catch and off the bounce and also brings an intense on-ball defensive presence to the floor.
Grace Quade, Milton (WI) – Grace was the only women’s player to send in her film and we were glad she did. The 5-foot-10 forward is a high IQ passer out of the mid and high-post spots, both when drawing an extra defender and hitting a shooter or finding a cutter. She understands how to space the floor to open driving lanes for teammates and has soft touch around the basket with either hand.
