Continue ReadingSan Jose CA, part of NorCal will again produce some prospects who will play at the next level, maybe not DI, but over the next couple of years these 2022 Prospects will have an opportunity to grow and expand their games that will give them a chance to continue to play at the next level. Here’s a group to keep an eye on.
Aidan Burke Aidan Burke 6'3" | SG Archbishop Mitty | 2022 State CA-N 6’3 Guard, Archbishop Mitty HS (San Jose, CA)
Burke will have an opportunity to showcase his game with expanded time on the court in the upcoming season. He was a key player off the bench for the Monarchs, a team that’s usually in the hunt for a CCS Open Division Title. At 6’3 a tough competitor on the court, he defends with tenacity, goes strong to the rim, and has a pretty good shot from three if left unattended. He’s a good rebounding guard.
Chidi Onu 6’6 Forward, Valley Christian HS (San Jose, CA)
Onu is expected to fill his frame with a bit more muscle. The word is he’s added some bounce to his game. Onu has good post presence. He’s has long arms and can be a rim protector, his defense has always been solid in the post. His offense is coming along. I’m looking forward to seeing do battle in the tough WCAL, one of NorCal’s toughest.
Sean Crowley 6’5 Post, Pioneer HS ( San Jose, CA)
Crowley earned second team All-League honors in the BVAL, B Division. Raw talent to go a with a solid body, he gets up and down the floor at a good pace. He has good long arms and has some presence in the paint, a good rebounder in his space and works hard at defending the other teams taller players. He has an improving jump shot out to 17 ft. His improved play in the post will be a key for this team.
Nate Lewit 6’0 Guard, Prospect HS ( San Jose, CA)
Lewit had a very productive season playing for Prospect, a team not known for basketball. He earned First team All-League BVAL, B Division, as a Soph he was the team leader in scoring,16.2 ppg, and rebounding, 5.9 per game. The muscular guard always plays hard win or lose. He’s on Wright’s Prospect Watch list as we move forward.
Gus Giba 6’4 Post, Live Oak HS (Morgan Hill, CA)
Giba earned First Team All-League BVAL, C Division, with his solid play, he helped Live Oak to a 12-2 league record and an appearance into the play-offs. He’s close to joining the double, double club with, 11.9 ppg, and 8.8 rebs. I expect he’ll join next season. A good post player who shot better than 50 percent, shows good shot selection and patience as he works his way around the post. Wright’s Prospect Watch list.
Theoren Brouillette 6’3 Wing/Guard, Bellarmine College Prep (San Jose, CA)
The past two years the Bells JV team went undefeated. Brouillette was key contributor. A quality player at the JV level. He has a good overall feel for the game, good passing, ball handling, and jump shot you have to account for. A good athlete with some bounce, he’s a volleyball player. How will he transition from JV to Varsity.
Nicholas Alvarez 6’1 Combo Guard, Bellarmine College Prep HS (San Jose, CA)
Alvarez is also making the move from the Bells undefeated JV Squad. A solid player who can knock down 3’s, his handles are good enough to be effective at the point. His defense really picked up moving forward. He plays hard, smart, and doesn’t mind putting in the extra work. If these two players can contribute to the varsity team. The Bells will be in the hunt again.
