#6 – Jarayl Peoples | 6-3 SF | Austin Crockett
A point-forward with a smooth playing style, Peoples is the leader on the court for the Cougars. A versatile offensive player, Peoples can score in a multitude of ways including a lethal three-point shot and the ability to get to the rim with ease. Peoples is a smooth operator with the ball in his hands and does a good job of finding open teammates. He is a more than willing rebounder who does a great job of positioning himself for boards and has put up several double-double performances over the years for Crockett. Earned All-District 25-5A First Team.
#7 – Bo Gary | 6-4 PF | Elgin
Gary was a force for Elgin during his junior campaign averaging 14.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. A stretch-four with three-point shooting capability, the Wildcats offense ran through Gary. Whether it was great positioning in the low post or coming off a screen for a three, Gary was the focal point and did a great job of scoring the rock. He has great explosion and burst when going up for rebounds, and is also terrific at finishing near the rim. Is also a big-time shot blocker with great anticipation. Earned All-District 18-5A Second Team.
#8 – Houston Murphy | 6-5 SF | Wimberley
Murphy is a versatile forward who averaged 11.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game during his junior season for the Texans. Murphy can do it all on offense, showing he’s a force in the paint while being able to extend out beyond-the-arc with a good three-point shot. He has good handles for his size and is a slasher towards the basket. Murphy is best at being an aggressive rebounder, crashing the boards hard, and creating second-chance opportunities. He Is an elite shot-blocker and plays strong defense down in the low post. Earned All-District 28-4A First Team.
#9 – Sam Miller | 6-4 SF | Bastrop
Miller had a breakout junior season for the Bears, becoming one of Bastrop’s top offensive weapons as a deep-range sharpshooter. Miller has legit shooting range and is a specialist as a catch-and-shoot forward from beyond-the-arc. He has a nose for the ball on defense, plays with great anticipation, and does a good job of getting his hands into passing lanes for tipped balls and steals. Earned All-District 18-5A Second Team.
#10 – Tyler Stephenson | 6-10 C | Lockhart
Standing at 6’10” Stephenson is the tallest player from the Austin area in our 2021 rankings series. As a true center prospect for the next level, Stephenson brings great length to the position and shows good movement ability inside the paint. Finishes well on both blocks, and has a developing mid-range shot from the short corner. Is also a strong passer with good court vision. On defense, he uses his length to disrupt the opponent’s shots near the basket.
