Before Monday, coaches had to be somewhat serendipitous in how they contacted a recruit. For example, communication could be apprehended through a third party source (coach) or a secondary funnel via social media. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown virtually all events that are used to evaluate potential recruits.
Yes, 2020 is not a normal year.
With all of that explained, I would like to get into some of the prospects here in South Florida that have earned offers over the last week. Congratulations to all of them on their continued accomplishments.
Malik Reneau Malik Reneau 6'7" | PF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #33 Nation FL – Mater Academy Charter
6-foot-7 Malik Reneau Malik Reneau 6'7" | PF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #33 Nation FL is as polished as any prospect residing in South Florida. Currently, the power forward ranks 13th in our 2022 Florida rankings. Reneau powered Mater Academy Charter to a 25-win season after averaging a team-best 20.5 points per game. The lefty prospect has exceptional footwork and natural finesse to score around the rim. Look for him to continue to dominant in the post as he establishes position with added strength.

Gregg Glenn Gregg Glenn 6'7" | PF Calvary Christian (FL) | 2022 State #161 Nation FL – Calvary Christian
The artillery just got better for Glenn, who is a 6-foot-7 small forward for the Eagles. Currently, Glenn ranks 4th in our 2022 rankings. Calvary Christian recently added 2022 forward Taylor Hendricks Taylor Hendricks 6'9" | PF Calvary Christian (FL) | 2022 State #124 Nation FL and 2021 Logan Lord to its arsenal of weapons. Glenn is athletic enough to guard multiple positions but has the feel of a bit of a tweener. As a sophomore, Glenn averaged a team-best 14.6 points and six rebounds per game. With added reinforcements to the roster, I look for Glenn to have a big year. Moreover, his motivation to be one of the best players in the state should be set in stone.

Taylor Hendricks Taylor Hendricks 6'9" | PF Calvary Christian (FL) | 2022 State #124 Nation FL – Calvary Christian
6-foot-8 Taylor Hendricks Taylor Hendricks 6'9" | PF Calvary Christian (FL) | 2022 State #124 Nation FL jumps over to Calvary Christian after two years at University School in Davie. At U-School, Hendricks helped the Sharks to a state championship as a freshman. The power forward is currently ranked 15th in our 2022 rankings. Playing alongside 2022 Jett Howard Jett Howard 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2022 State #64 Nation FL , Hendricks averaged 14.2 points and 8.6 rebounds last season. The rising junior is stellar running the floor and plays well above the rim on the fast break. With 2021 Noah Tovar Noah Tovar 6'4" | CG Central Pointe Post Grad | 2021 FL leaving to go Central Point Christian Post Grad, whoever throws up the ball to Hendricks should reap the benefits.

Ben Middlebrooks – Westminster Academy
6-foot-8 Ben Middlebrooks is a classic example of a powerful stretch four. The Lions forward has been putting on size and is upwards of 215 pounds. Middlebrooks carved out a team-best 17.5 points and 13.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore. The rising junior has an exceptional first step, particularly when he faces up defenders around the top of the key. Using his quickness, Middlebrooks can then accelerate into the lane and finish with his size with either hand. Additionally, Middlebrooks can space out the floor with an adequate outside shot. Look for him to take on a more assertive role for Westminster Academy next year.

Justin Abson Justin Abson 6'9" | PF North Broward Prep | 2022 State #230 Nation FL – North Broward Prep
6-foot-8 Justin Abson Justin Abson 6'9" | PF North Broward Prep | 2022 State #230 Nation FL is an underrated player tucked in at the top of the 954. The rising junior helped the Eagles to an 18-11 record an a spot in the 4A-13 district championship this past season. Abson is a strong power forward on the interior with an adequate mid-range game. Additionally, his 7’2″ wingspan allows him to alter and block shots on the defensive end. As a sophomore, Abson averaged 15.9 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Stetson University was the first program to offer him back in December. Abson is on the verge of becoming a complete player with more offers to come.

Deshawn Jean-Charles Deshawn Jean-Charles 6'6" | PF West Oaks | 2022 State FL – Miramar
6-foot-6 Deshawn Jean-Charles Deshawn Jean-Charles 6'6" | PF West Oaks | 2022 State FL introduced himself to the state with a 25-point, eight rebound effort in the Patriots state championship victory over Seminole. With 2020 Brent Davis Brent Davis 6'1" | CG Miramar | 2020 State FL off to The Citadel, Jean-Charles jumps in as the main man for Miramar. The rising junior averaged 12.1 points and 6.6 rebounds for the Patriots last season. Jean-Charles is extremely athletic and should accentuate his talent on all levels of the floor. Additionally, any added bulk will give him the upper hand around the paint.
