Next season the SEC will play host to a high amount of players that colleges of all levels will want to keep an eye on, and we give you some of the names to know for next winter.
JaKobe Thompson (6’1 2021 G, Racine Case)- One of the most naturally gifted scorers in the state, JaKobe can get his team a bucket on demand. JaKobe plays with great change of pace allowing him to create shots with ease in isolation, and he has increased his shooting efficiency every year in high school. The reigning conference player of the year after leading Case to the conference title behind 19 ppg, JaKobe should have scholarship level schools keeping close tabs.
Ezra Stargell Ezra Stargell 6'1" | PG Kenosha Indian Trail | 2021 State WI (5’11 2021 PG, Kenosha Indian Trails)- The possibility of prep school is on the table for Ezra, but if he were to return, he’d be on of the most talented players in the conference. A shifty guard with deep range and a gifted passer, Ezra averaged roughly 16 points and 8 assists per game for ITA. His speed in the open floor makes him a danger in transition where he’s able to finish around the rim despite his size, or zip passes to cutting teammates for scores.
Darrien Long Darrien Long 6'5" | PF Racine Horlick | 2022 State WI (6’5 2022 SF, Racine Horlick)- A physically imposing forward with size, strength, and explosive leaping abilities, Darrien has all the tools to develop into a dangerous wing. He stood out on an inexperienced Horlick team last season with thunderous finishes and blocks, while also showcasing solid touch from mid-range and three. Darrien averaged 11.8 ppg as a sophomore, and could see that number rise substantially with an improved handle and shot creation ability.
Jasin Sinani Jasin Sinani 6'3" | SG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI (6’3 2021 G, Oak Creek)- A player who likely would have picked up some D2 attention during the AAU season, Jasin combines size, shooting touch, and all around versatility as a player capable of playing either guard spot. Sinani can hit deep threes off the catch or dribble, with no problem creating his own shot efficiently. Also his school’s quarterback, Sinani brings over leadership qualities and toughness to the hardwood, as well as the strength to finish through contact around the rim.
Amari Jedkins Amari Jedkins 6'7" | PF Racine Case | 2022 State WI (6’9 2022 F, Racine Case)- One of the most intriguing prospects in the state, Amari Jedkins Amari Jedkins 6'7" | PF Racine Case | 2022 State WI has reportedly grown to 6’9, and adds on explosive athleticism around the rim. When he’s not throwing down dunks, Amari has exceptional shot blocking instincts, and runs like a gazelle in the open floor. He works hard to dominate the glass on both ends, and has showcased soft touch to finish in the paint.
Carter Capstran Carter Capstran 6'6" | PF Franklin | 2021 State WI (6’6 2021 F, Franklin)- Carter was a walking double-double this past season, averaging 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as Franklin’s man in the middle. A powerful athlete, Carter can bang down low but has become more agile over the past year allowing him to step out to the wing and make plays with his handle. The versatile prospect will rank among the state’s top power forwards coming back next season.
Jalen Carlino (5’11 2022 PG, Kenosha Bradford)- A big time sleeper in the 2022 class, Carlino looks ready to take a step forward as Bradford graduates their top three scorers from last winter. Carlino is an intelligent lead guard who dictates the flow of the offense with his passing ability. Jalen adds in deep range from three, hitting 38% of his attempts as a sophomore. He plays at a fast pace but never appears out of control, and loves to throw the ball ahead in transition.
Dontrell Bush Dontrell Bush 6'1" | SG Racine Horlick | 2022 WI (6’1 2022 G, Racine Horlick)- Another solid 2022 talent for Horlick, Dontrell is a well-rounded guard with long arms, a solid outside shot, and finishing ability around the rim. He’s a solid athlete who can get up the floor and beat defenders to the rim and transition, and attacks under control with a polished Euro-step move. The lefty guard averaged 8.1 ppg as a sophomore utilizing his versatile offensive game.
Trey Cardona (5’10 2021 G, Kenosha Tremper)- Trey Cardona is a sleeper guard who I could see having a huge senior season. He averaged 10.7 ppg playing alongside a pair of seniors who each averaged 19+, and he looks ready to pick up the increased scoring load. Cardona has a shifty handle to create space, and deep range to hit from beyond the arc. In transition he’s a fearless attacker, elevating with his chin at the rim to go up and finish through contact.
Terryon Brumby Terryon Brumby 6'0" | PG Racine Case | 2022 State WI (6’ 2022 G, Racine Case)- Case’s second leading scorer the past two seasons, Terryon is one of the top 2022 guard prospects in Wisconsin. Capable of scoring in a variety of ways, Terryon is extremely quick with the ball, can shoot off the catch or dribble, and has a knack for getting to the rim and finishing. Terryon also uses his quickness to pester opposing ball handlers, having picked up 2 steals per game as a sophomore.
Kael Stulo Kael Stulo 6'1" | CG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI (6’ 2021 G, Oak Creek)- Kael Stulo Kael Stulo 6'1" | CG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI had a breakout junior season for Oak Creek, averaging 14 points while shooting 40% from three point range. Kael moves well off the ball to find himself in space to shoot, and plays with great change of pace to create off the dribble. In transition he’s a crafty finisher around the rim capable of going up against size and contorting his body to finish.
Tre Gordon (6’2 2021 G, Kenosha Bradford)- Tre Gordon is another player who could take a big leap forward as a senior. He has a long and lanky frame with athleticism to finish above the rim in the open floor. He averaged just 6.1 ppg as he struggled with a lingering injury, but showcased in a 21 point outing against Indian Trails that he’s a more than capable scorer, and he can catch fire from beyond the arc.
