Prep Hoops Missouri presents it next Grassroots team spotlight, which takes a look at the Carroll GoL1ve 17U team.

Roster

Javon Grant 5’11" Pittsburg (KS): A dynamic point guard who is a gifted scoring threat and creative passer. He operates well when he is playing fast and in the open court. He is very good on the coast to coast drive, but he can also get buckets in the half court offense with his dribble penetration and ability to knock down open 3-pointers.

[player_tooltip player_id="824124" first="Jalen" last="Hampton"] 6’5" University City: A bouncy combo forward who has the ability to dominate stretches of games with his play around the basket. He runs the court like a gazelle and can throw down transition dunks with ease. He also uses his quickness to beat opposing bigs off the dribble. As a junior, he averaged 16.2 points and 7.7 rebounds in leading the Lions to a conference championship.

[player_tooltip player_id="824135" first="Ilyaas" last="Harris"] 5’10" Cardinal Ritter: A steady point guard who was a sparkplug off the bench for the Lions' Class 3 state championship team. He has excellent quickness and good handles and he operates well in the pick-and-roll. He has an excellent mid-range jumper off the bounce and he can get into the lane and make good decisions. He will play a much bigger role as a senior as the Lions try to defend their state title.

Tanner Hecht 6’5" Wamego (KS): A long and rangy wing player with solid handles and excellent 3-point range. He is a very good shooter off the catch and he moves well without the basketball while coming off screens. He also does a good job of setting up his defenders to create offense off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id="824216" first="Karl" last="Moore"] 6’6" Jennings: An athletic power forward who was one of the top shot blockers in the state last season. He averaged an impressive 7.6 swats per game as he displayed the ability to block shots in the lane and on the perimeter. His length and quick-jump ability made him a dominant rim protector for his size. He also averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="824125" first="Aahmod" last="Scarbrough"] 6’3" Hazelwood Central: A tough, lefty shooting guard who is an excellent two-way performer. He is very good at attacking the rim and getting out in the transition game for buckets and he he will knock down a 3-pointer on occasion. He averaged seven points and four rebounds in helping the Hawks to a district championship.

[player_tooltip player_id="824147" first="Demarion" last="Shanklin"] 6’2" Jennings: The talented lefty is a creative bucket-getter who knows how to get his own shot. He has solid 3-point range and a strong dribble drive game and mid-range jumper to boot. He averaged 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id="824123" first="Kaleb" last="Wofford"] 6’2" Nixa: An impressive perimeter shooter who has been a varsity starter since his freshman year. He has shooting range from well beyond the 3-point line and a quick release to go along with it. He also has a nice variety of shot fakes and dribble moves to compliment his long range stroke.
