Leonardo Beath — Oak Park
Leonardo Beath is a 3-point specialist for the Oak Park Eagles. He formed a viable shooting duo alongside senior Clark Slajchert last season. Beath recorded 72 3-point makes en route to a sound scoring season. What makes him a constant threat from 3-point land is how well he steps into his shot. He is reliable as a quick catch-and-shoot player and can hit in bunches over the course of a game. He can jump into open space and quickly angle his body well to get set for a 3-point attempt.
As he continues to work on consistently hitting from across the floor, Beath will only add to his lethal shooting arsenal. An expanded shooting range from 3-point land can help in consistently collapsing opposing defensive setups.
Cory Johnson — Fairmont Prep
Cory Johnson is a 6’6” wing who provides quality scoring depth for Fairmont Prep. As a shooter, he specializes well in a catch-and-shoot role, especially in 3-point attempts. He possesses a sharp release that allows him to become a scorer who can shoot immediately after receiving a pass. Simple enough, but the junior consistently excelled in this role for the Huskies over the season. Thanks to his ability to survey the floor and move into open space, he took a multitude of uncontested shots from 3-point land on a 40 percent success rate.
He is a prime candidate to have a breakout senior campaign.
Colin Weems — Chaminade
On a team with a couple of other viable scorers, Colin Weems provided Chaminade with good offensive sparks over the season. In his first season with the team, Weems found a good role as a superb shooter. He has a good soft touch on his shot and can drill 3-pointers from the corners to wings. Teammates can often find him waiting for catch-and-shoot opportunities, but he does not settle at all. The junior always has his sights set on finding the best shot available and also looks to penetrate inside or simply create just enough separation to let loose on an outside shot.
Jaren Harris — Windward
Jaren Harris is coming off of a strong campaign that was highlighted by many top individual performances along with a selection in the All-Gold Coast League Second Team. The guard is a talent who thrives off of attacking the basket, but his outside shooting is just as an offensive threat for opponents. He can get going in a hurry from 3-point land with his steady and reliable release. He follows through well throughout his extension of the shot and is sneaky quick when releasing the shot in tight space. If needed, a teammate can look for him hovering around the 3-point line, waiting for the opportune moment to launch a quick release shot. He is a team-first player who will take on any shooting assignment given to him.
With his improving 3-point shot, he will only add to Windward’s already multi-dimensional offensive force.
