The state of North Carolina has seen quite the commitments in recent days. Here’s a look at an updated look.

[player_tooltip player_id="533510" first="Dontrez" last="Styles"]: North Carolina

[player_tooltip player_id="533510" first="Dontrez" last="Styles"] announced his intentions this past Saturday night to attend the University of North Carolina, making him the first member of the Tar Heels’ 2021 class. He’s yet another top prospect to join the Tar Heels and would be an interesting addition alongside Dayron Sharpe, if he remains there longer than a season.

Zack Austin: High Point

Austin announced his commitment to High Point University on March 23. He’ll join a class of [player_tooltip player_id="833089" first="Ahmil" last="Flowers"], [player_tooltip player_id="833124" first="Alex" last="Holt"] and Bryson Childress, making them all solid additions to a Tubby Smith-led squad. He had a strong postgrad season at Moravian Prep, showing off his development as a three-level scorer at 6-foot-6.

[player_tooltip player_id="833124" first="Alex" last="Holt"]: High Point

Holt will be another addition at High Point University that should be a strong addition in the frontcourt. At 6-foot-8, 250 pounds, Holt is a burden to bear on both ends with his ability to operate in the paint. He’ll be one to keep an eye on at the next level in the Big South.

[player_tooltip player_id="533537" first="JaDun" last="Michael"]: Elon

Michael recently rescinded his commitment to Wichita State, but he didn’t waste any time pledging to another school, making an in-state choice with Elon. He’s a program-changing type of prospect with his ability to operate on all three levels and certainly has the potential to make a name for himself at Elon.

[player_tooltip player_id="833091" first="Jamahri" last="Harvey"]: UNC-Wilmington

Harvey joins a class that already includes [player_tooltip player_id="533411" first="Jajuan" last="Carr"] in the backcourt to make Takayo Siddle’s first recruiting class an explosive one already. Harvey had a productive season at the combo guard spot this season at Moravian Prep and excelled as a three-level option. He’ll be a solid addition in the CAA alongside [player_tooltip player_id="533411" first="Jajuan" last="Carr"].

[player_tooltip player_id="833086" first="Jaden" last="Seymour"]: Wichita State

Seymour missed much of the 2019-20 season due to a torn ACL injury but he returned for Northside Christian Academy and showed he’s still hasn’t lost a step. He’s a matchup nightmare waiting to happen on the wing at 6-foot-9. He’ll be one to watch next season at Wichita State.

[player_tooltip player_id="833059" first="Javarzia" last="Belton"]: Southern Miss

Belton didn’t shoot for the moon when looking for a home at the next level and that’s not a bad thing as he continues to improve in the frontcourt. He’s a 6-foot-10 big man that’s physically imposing on the hardwood and it shows whenever he touches the ball. Look for him to make waves at the next level at Southern Miss.

Themus Fulks: South Carolina State

Fulks went the post-grad route at Moravian Prep this past season and it paid off as he ended up pledging to South Carolina State. Fulks is a crafty 6-foot-2 guard with the ability to create on all three levels. He’s a solid ballhandler with a high IQ for making plays.

[player_tooltip player_id="833306" first="Samage" last="Teel"]: Winston-Salem State

Teel took over the point guard duties in 2019-20 for Farmville Central and it paid off for him as they didn’t miss a beat. He’s a smart decision-maker on offense and defense and pushes the bill with his ability to pressure the ball. He’ll have a solid career in the CIAA.

[player_tooltip player_id="833361" first="Isaac" last="Parson"]: Winston-Salem State

Parson will join [player_tooltip player_id="833306" first="Samage" last="Teel"] in the Winston-Salem State backcourt in 2020-21, making them a dynamic duo on paper already. Parson is known to wreak havoc at the point guard spot with his ability to get to the rim and make crisp passes in traffic. He’ll be another player that should have a strong CIAA career.
