ICYMI: The New Top 10 in the 2021 Class
No. 21 – Jace Carter Jace Carter 6'5" | CG Astronaut | 2021 State FL has been a pure scorer since his freshman season. After averaging just over 17 PPG as a freshman and sophomore, he took over the reins of the offense during his junior campaign, averaging 21.2 PPG and 9.4 RPG. He had just one game under 10 points for the season, while compiling 12 double doubles as he can score buckets all over the floor for Astronaut. FGCU has offered Carter while FAU, Wofford, Georgia Southern, New Orleans, Temple, Murray State and George Mason have shown interest and I expect many more Division I programs to look closer at the 6’5″ playmaking guard.
No. 24 – Kyle Duke Kyle Duke 6'3" | CG The Rock | 2021 State FL has certainly made himself a known commodity in the Nike EYBL world with UPlay Canada and in the SIAA with The Rock. The 6’3″ Canadian born guard is a true lead piece for an offense. He is both quick and strong and can blow by defenders in the blink of an eye for buckets. FGCU, Wake Forest, Winthrop, USF, UCF and Georgia Tech are all showing interest.
No. 26 – Jarveil Gainey Jarveil Gainey 6'3" | CG Eastside | 2021 State FL made the move from Trinity Catholic to Eastside this season and the 6’2″ combo guard flourished. He averaged 16.8 PPG and 5.6 RPG, scoring double digits in all but two outings. With offers from UNF, Bethune Cookman, SE Louisiana, Arkansas Little Rock and UNC Asheville and interest from FGCU and Iowa State, it is very clear that Gainey’s value is high in the Division I world. He is a high IQ scorer who can drive and shoot.
No. 81 – Nasir Mann Nasir Mann 6'4" | CG Villages Charter | 2021 State FL played sparingly on varsity as a sophomore, but the younger brother of UF freshman Tre Mann made huge strides this season at The Villages. The 6’2″ athlete averaged 14.0 PPG and 5.5 RPG this season. With his brother Tre in the front row, Nasir had a very nice showing on Dec. 10 at Zephyrhills, netting 21 points on 6-of-7 shooting which included a perfect 3-of-3 from deep. He is an emerging talent who is just hitting the peak. Florida College has offered Mann but Division I teams will certainly reach out.
No. 82 – Chase Garrett Chase Garrett 6'4" | CG South Spencer | 2021 State IN is a true blue collar player. The second the game starts, he is locked in and a true professional of the game. The 6’4″ guard can drive on his own, shoot it plenty and is a high volume producer. Averaging 18.6 PPG. 4.9 RPG and 4.3 APG, Garrett had a standout performance out the gates in an upset win over Fort Myers with 30 points (five 3’s included). He has an offer from NAIA Evangel and interest from Lincoln Memorial, American and West Point.
No. 84 – Jordan Cooke Jordan Cooke 6'0" | CG Miami Country Day | 2021 State FL is a baller point blank. Averaging 21.5 PPG this season, he was a true scorer for Miami Country Day, opening the year with a 40 point game against Edison, shooting 14-of-16 from the field which included 5-of-6 from deep. Cooke had just one game under 10 points and six games with 30 plus points. Ivy League schools are showing interest in him now. His driving ability, toughness and 3-point ability (49 percent shooting) are huge assets.
