The county will get a third rendition of The Patrick School vs. Roselle Catholic. These two teams have been ranked in the top-three all season long. The Patrick School won both meetings this season but the Lions have a chance to get their revenge on the biggest stage.
These might be the two most talented teams in the state. Let’s begin with Patrick School. Jonathan Kuminga is ESPN’s No. 1 player in the Class of 2021. He is arguably the best player in the state regardless of class. The Patrick School has dealt with transfer issues with Kuminga and Adama Sanogo but they are finally at full strength. They have two blowout wins in the UCCT and will look to finish the job. Noah Farrakhan is one of the top players in New Jersey. The uncommitted senior point guard is one of the leaders of the team. Zarique Nutter is another strong player who carried the load in Kuminga’s absence.
For Roselle Catholic, the seniors have been dynamic. C.J. Wilcher is one of the best scorers in the county. Cliff Omoruyi is a 6’10 forward who plays with great intensity on both sides. The Lions are not a deep team, but they are extremely talented at the top. Simeon Wilcher and Corey Floyd Jr. carry the load for the underclassmen. Roselle Catholic is used to success. They have TOC championships along with multiple county and state titles.
This game will come down to which group of stars will take over. Kuminga and Wilcher both scored 20 points for their teams in the first meeting. Florida commit Niels Lane is back for Roselle Catholic after missing time with an injury. There will be plenty of star power on the floor at Kean University on Saturday night. This is the game of the week by far in New Jersey and might be the biggest game of the season given the circumstances.
