It has been a great road for both sides led by some incredible players. Here are the top players to watch on each team heading into the big time matchup.
Tyler Gorczyca (2020) | Hackettstown
Hackettstown is 21-3 on the season. They were big favorites heading into this tournament because of Gorczyca. He has scored in double-figures in 19 games this season including 27 points in the semi-finals against Phillipsburg. Gorczyca is ane lite shooter and one of the top scorers in the county. He will be tough to stop when his team takes the court looking for a championship.
Brian Johansson (2021) | Hunterdon Central
Johansson began the tournament with a 24-point performance against Vernon. He set the tone early and it was in-line with what he has done all season long. He is averaging 14.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game over his junior campaign. Johansson has hit 95 free throws this season which means he is elite at getting to the rim and drawing contact. Johansson will need one more big performance against Hackettstown.
Jalen Baptists (2020) | Hackettstown
Baptists has heated up over the last nine games. He has scored 10 or more points in six of them and finished with 18 against Phillipsburg. Baptists is a forward who has done most of his work on the inside and has been a strong rebounder. Baptists has hit just 14 three’s this season. He knows what he is best at and knows how to dominate.
Matt Ciszkowski (2021) | Hunterdon Central
Ciszkowski has been the model of consistency for Hunterdon Central this season. He began with 16 points and seven rebounds against Vernon. In the quarterfinals, he chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds. In the big win over Sparta, Ciszkowski led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds.
Shawn Morgan (2021) | Hackettstown
Morgan has been Hackettstown’s top shooter this season. He has hit 44 three’s on the season to lead the team. Morgan went through a stretch where he scored double-figures in six straight, three of them eclipsing 20 points. Morgan led the way in the quarterfinals against Delaware Valley with 16 points. He is the team’s third leading scorer and a huge x-factor entering the finals.
