Wildwood Catholic has built a dynasty. They have seven losses this season because they have played one of the most difficult schedules. There is no doubt that they are the best team in the Cape-Atlantic League. Wildwood Catholic was led by their two Division I studs in the semi-finals. They picked up a 61-47 victory over St. Joe’s (Hamm.) to advance. West Virginia commit Taj Thweatt led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Temple commit Jahlil White finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Both Thweatt and White are huge reasons why Wildwood Catholic is back in the finals and made a TOC appearance last season.
St. Augustine picked up their second straight 20-point victory in the tournament. They took down Mainland 65-41 behind 19 points from Matthew Delaney. Elamarko Jackson was the only other player in double-figures with 16 points. St. Augustine has been led by Delaney this season but they have exceptional depth. Keith Palek and John Horner have also been big contributors on the offensive end. St. Augustine will have to win this game on defense.
Wildwood Catholic has two elite players in the state. It is impossible to slow them down but it is something that St. Augustine must try to do to win this game. Delaney must use his 6’7 frame to dominate down low and impact shots on defense. Wildwood Catholic is looking for yet another league title heading into the state tournament. This will be an exciting game in the afternoon between the two best teams all season long.
