Four Standout Players
Terrence McDaniels (Ballard)
Senior forward came up big for the Bruins in this Monday night championship game. He finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds. McDaniels was very aggressive down-low in this game. Not like the other KOB games earlier on. He showed his great size and ability to finish inside. He didn’t knock down any threes (which he can do) but there was no need. McDaniels wins my MVP for the KOB championship game.
Jack Edelen (Ballard)
One of the best freshmen in Kentucky with another great performances for the Ballard Bruins. He finished with 18 points, including two 3s. Jack Edelen sure does look like a freshman but does not play like one whatsoever. If you went to this tournament with no knowledge, you would think he is a veteran. He plays with great confidence and control. Very smart with the ball and a great floor general for this very talented Ballard team.
Justin Powell (North Oldham)
Ballard face-guarded and double-teamed Powell all game. He still managed to get 22 points and 10 rebounds. He finished the KOB tournament averaging 22.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists. He didn’t get as many looks as he liked to because of Ballard’s great defense. He still put up good numbers in this one despite the loss. North Oldham places 2nd in the 2019 KOB and Justin Powell ended up winning the KOB MVP Award.
Tyler Higdon (North Oldham)
Higdon is a big athletic body that loves to fight down-low. He is very aggressive when going for defensive/offensive rebounds. Higdon finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. He averaged 11.0 rebounds per game in the KOB, which was 1st among all players. His strength and effort was one of the best in the tournament. Higdon and Powell are the two main rebounders and scorers for this North Oldham team as they both made the ALL-Tournament Team.
