Marcus Bagley 6’8 2020 Sheldon HS (Arizona St). Carter Mahaney 6’2 2020 Campolindo (Northern Arizona). Teiano Hardee 6’5 2020 Vanden (Sacramento State), Alex Merkviladze 6’8 2020, Modesto Christian, (Cal State Northridge) and Baljot Sahi 6’0 2020, Modesto Christian (Stanislaus State DII) and other top prospects being closely watched by DI programs including Xavion Brown 6’2 2020, Sheldon, Cole Anderson 6’4 2021 Clovis West, Yaru Harvey 6’4 2021, Sheldon, and Aiden Mahaney 6’3 2022 Campolindo.
The 2020 prospects below are expected to make significant contributions to the success of their teams.
Jalen Patterson 6’0 2020 Pt guard, Liberty Ranch.
A solid guard who can score in many ways, he creates off the dribble, he has an effective mid-range shot and he can drill the 3pt shot beyond the arch. He advances the ball well in open court and finds open teammates with solid passing skills.
Tiler Fears 6’3 2020 combo guard Folsom HS.
Contributes to the success of his team in many ways. A tough minded combo guard, he moves well without the ball, comes off screens for mid range shots and can get to the basket through contact. He can finish well in transition and plays solid defense and rebounds well for his size. Fears plays under control and doesn’t force the action.
Dontrell Hewlett 6’4 2020 guard Sheldon HS.
Each game I watch Hewlett him play, he does something to impress. He’s tough to deal with off the dribble, and in the open court. He’s got the hops and strength to finish over the top in the paint. Playing on a deep Sheldon team he takes advantage of his court time. I expect his production will go up as the season goes.
Michael Pierce 5’9 2020 point guard Modesto Christian HS
Pierce is doing a good job of trying to get his teammates headed in the right direction. He did a good job of involving other young players and newcomers on this team, knowing he can create and score his own shot, he was looking to get others involved. He’s still the one who’s going to knock down big shots when this team needs one. He showed good patience and leadership.
Gavin Wilburn 6’3 2020 guard Weston Ranch HS
Wilburn has put in a lot of work this summer at the guard spot. It’s time for it to payoff. He’s lighter and is moving better. His improved ball handling skills and body control should help him get to the basket with more success. If he starts to knock down jump shots he’ll be tough to deal with. He’s still good pretty good around the basket.
Xavier Brown 6’4 2020 wing Sheldon HS
Brown is a reminder how deep this Sheldon team is. He can go unnoticed at times until he grabs a rebounds and starts the break, or puts it back up for two. His mid range shot is pretty consistent now. He can guard multiple positions.
