The continually developing 6-foot-11, 240-pound post from Franklin High School made strides with his game and also got his name out there with numerous college coaches at all levels. He’s picked up his first couple of college offers and he’s hopeful for more and a big senior year with the Quakers in 2019-20.
“It was amazing,” Pellicci said of his summer, playing with International Elite. “The coaches were some of the best coaches that I’ve ever had – they worked for me and they made sure that college coaches knew my name. As a team itself, Interational Elite was more of a family than I’ve experienced in the past and we were all on the same page and all played together as a team.”
“So it was a really good summer; I got some offers which was always the goal,” Pellicci continued. “So now I want to bring some of that momentum into this season.”
Some areas in his game Pellicci thought he really improved were running the floor and trusting in his teammates. “The mental game was really a big piece for me this year,” Pellicci said. “I just need to make sure my mind stays in the game and I don’t get distracted with the negative stuff. That was kind of an eye-opener this summer, that it’s not all physical but that most of it is mental.”
In terms of offers, Pellicci picked up a roster invitation from Division III University of Dallas and also a full-ride scholarship offer from Hawaii-Hilo – a school he got a chance to unofficially visit this summer. “Coach Coleman is a really great guy and I really had fun playing with them,” Pellicci said. “It was good to play with them and see the campus and it’s definitely an option for me at this point.”
“I’m just going to see where things take me and hopefully I can pick up some more (offers) this season,” Pellicci continued. “I’m going to wait and hopefully make a decision by February, depending on what I have.”
What Pellicci hopes is he and Franklin have a solid year ahead. “It’s going to be a change – this summer playing it was seeing where we were at,” Pellicci said. “But this fall has been good building that chemistry as we’re still trying to get a feel for each other’s playing style. I’m very confident that once we do, we’ll be a really good team and we’ll compete in the PIL.”
“I just want to make sure that I’m a good leader,” Pellicci continued. “It’s all a developing process but I’m very optimistic about this season.”
Pellicci currently ranks as the #24 ranked player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
