Prospect Spotlight: Aaron Lewis (2021)
Aaron Lewis, a class of 2021 forward from Lanham Christian, looked much improved during a scrimmage at Pallotti earlier this week. At 6-foot-7, 192-pounds, he can score inside and out but is also productive on the glass. Lewis is also a good defender. He is showed that he can protect the rim but is also not afraid to step up and take a charge.
“We could’ve done better, but it was a good showing for our first scrimmage of the season,” Lewis told Prep Hoops “We were missing some guys, but overall as a team, I think we did well. We just need to improve a little bit more by getting in the gym.”
Lewis understands that his primary role for the team will involve rebounding and blocking shots but knows that he has the green light to shoot and attack the rim in certain situations. Some of his current focus areas for improvement include becoming a true knockdown shooter and improving his overall court awareness.
“I’ve become more vocal on defense,” Lewis told Prep Hoops. “I’m knocking down more of my shots and getting my teammates more involved. Passing the ball, going to the basket strong and finishing above the rim.”
Lafayette had Lewis on campus for an unofficial visit, but he had no other recruiting activity to report. That should change soon given his blend of size and athleticism along with the fact that he can impact the game in a number of areas on both ends of the court.
What are his goals?
“Just to get better, get my team involved and win a state championship.”
Aaron Lewis is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-60 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2021 class, click here.
