Things have obviously been moving along for the versatile 6-foot-8, 190-pound junior as he finished out another club campaign this summer with the Rose City Rebels and is now fully at Clackamas High School this fall. The college recruitment process continues to be hot and heavy as coaches have been visiting him these past few weeks and Gregg caught us up on the latest.
As far as the summer goes, Gregg described this past AAU season with the Rebels on the EYBL circuit. “It wasn’t what we wanted at the end but it was fun playing with those guys – they’re my team,” Gregg said. “We played great competition and came short of the Peach Jam which kind of sucked, but it was a good time overall.”
Individually, Gregg definitely had his moments but he continues to hold high standards for himself. “I was fighting through some injuries and never got completely healed so I didn’t play the way I wanted to,” Gregg said. “But I’ve been getting a lot of treatment and getting stronger.”
Plenty of schools saw Gregg over the summer months and a number of coaches have dropped by Clackamas High School to watch him work out. “Colorado has been pretty heavy on me as well as Virginia, and Gonzaga texts me like every day – (Head coach) Mark Few and Brian Michaelson, the assistant coach, came in for a visit,” Gregg said. “It’s been busy so far but it’s been a lot of fun.”
Like several other top prospects in his class, Gregg has started to actively work on his recruitment. He’s scheduled his first official visit, which will be to Oregon State this upcoming weekend, October 11-13, where he’ll take in the Beavers home football game against Utah, watch basketball practice, and hang out with the team.
“That should be fun,” Gregg said. “I like their coaching staff a lot, so it will be fun to get the full college experience there. I’m pretty familiar with their program so I know what they do, so it will be about meeting up with them and having some fun with them.”
No other visits have been set but Gregg noted that there have been discussions about making trips to Virginia, Gonzaga, and possibly USC. He notes that he’s staying wide open with the process as he’s looking forward to this upcoming season with his new/old teammates at Clackamas.
“I grew up playing with these guys when I was little so it’s fun playing with them again,” Gregg said. “”It’s been fun so far and we should be good in our conference. We started workouts this week and we’re looking good right now. It’s only up from here.”
Gregg currently ranks as the #2 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
