Abrahamson has steadily looked to diversify his skills and playing against high-level competition on the AAU circuit with International Elite helped the Gresham High School senior accomplish those goals.
“This summer I really worked on driving,” Abrahamson said. “Driving to the hole has made my game a lot better.”
Abrahamson has always been and always will be a shooter. That’s the calling card for the lanky wing as he’s got a smooth stroke out past the three-point line. But in a recent open gym session at Gresham High School, he showed that he’s improved at creating off of the dribble and finishing plays at the basket. Now in his final year as a Gopher, he’s ready to take on a leadership role as well as Gresham has a number of talented young players joining the program.
Multnomah has been in touch with Abrahamson going back to before his junior season and the Lions remain in touch with him. According to Gresham head coach Erik Lyslo, Pepperdine assistant coach Ken Bone was in town to look at Gophers Elijah Munyan and Esyah Pippa-White and came away also impressed with Abrahamson. Other than that, the senior is open to all options, and that includes going the junior college route before eventually settling in at a four-year school.
“I’m trying to get as high as I can,” Abrahamson said. “Close to home would be cool to stay close to my family and my little brother would be cool, but if I have to go far away to do something bigger, it would be worth it.”
Last season, Abrahamson led Gresham in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounding (5.3 rpg). He currently ranks as the #40 player in the updated PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
