This year was no different, as several prospects helped themselves by performing well at the event in front of media and scouts. Below we highlight five local class of 2021 prospects who stood out among the rest.
BRAYON FREEMAN | 6’2 G | O’CONNELL
Freeman looked like perhaps the most skilled guard at the event. His shooting continues to improve and he gets to the rim at will. Freeman also gave effort on the defensive end which included taking charges.
ELIJAH HAWKINS | 5’7 G | DEMATHA
One of the quickest guards in attendance, Hawkins is an adept paint-getter who embraces contact and is very crafty when finishing around the basket. When engaged, he proved that he could defend pretty much anyone with his quick feet and active hands.
JON IZEMEF | 6’9 C | NATIONAL CHRISTIAN
Izemef is a relatively new face in the DMV, but it shouldn’t be long before he becomes a household name. The intriguing 6-foot-9 post prospect stood out with his ability to rebound, block shots, run the floor and score consistently around the basket.
BEZ MBENG | 6’3 G | GOOD COUNSEL
Mbeng showcased his elite burst and playmaking ability, but also made shots and defended well on Saturday. He filled the lanes in transition and made great reads with the ball in his hands.
ZAAKIR WILLIAMSON | 6’6 F | ROCK CREEK
Williamson scored at will whether it was in the paint or outside. He showcased impressive footwork to go along with a wide arsenal of moves on the low block. The main takeaway from Williamson’s performance, however, was his improved athleticism.
