After receiving his first Division 2 scholarship offer from Minnesota-Crookston, Gunnink will take an official visit the weekend of Sept. 27.
“I definitely like the coaches and what they’re doing there,” Gunnink told Prep Hoops Wisconsin. “The program wasn’t the best the past few years, but they’ve really done a lot there.”
Gunnink also holds an offer from Bryant and Stratton, who will get a visit next month.
“I plan on visiting them sometime in September,” said Gunnink. “We’ll see what happens. I don’t know a lot about them right now.”
Bemidji State and Minnesota-Moorehead have both shown interest in Gunnink at the Division 2 level. However, both programs haven’t exactly turned up the heat just yet. At the Division 3 level, Gunnink has a number of potential suitors as well.
“I’m talking to Oshkosh, Platteville, and La Crosse,” he said. “They’re showing quite a bit of interest.”
Gunnink plans to visit Oshkosh and La Crosse next month as well. Crookston has a home visit scheduled with Gunnink on Sept. 9. While he has an offer to play at the Division 2 level, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior can see himself potentially playing in the WIAC.
“I really like Crookston, but I have to factor in how far away they are,” said Gunnink. “I really like Oshkosh and Platteville too.
“The most important factors are winning and I’d like to play wherever I go. I’m also looking at distance and if they have my major.”
