The 6’3″, 170-pounder broke a school record that had been standing since the early 90’s with the most 3’s in a single season this past fall. The Wildcats finished 18-8, losing in the district semifinal to Columbia.
“I felt like my junior season was a big success for me personally and for my team. We won the most games in a season since 2012,” Charske told Prep Hoops. “I felt like the biggest growth in my game from this year to last year was the ability for me to score in multiple ways because last year I was just primarily a shooter. I also got a lot stronger from all of the work that we put in the offseason.”
As for Charske’s recruitment right now, he has no offers yet, but he’s drawn interest from Emerson, Covenant and Ave Maria. The first two programs he has taken visits to as he plans a visit to Ave Maria here soon as well. He’s also generated interest from Division I programs Stoneybrook and Indiana State, Divison II program Palm Beach Atlantic and junior college schools Santa Fe and Central Florida.
“This summer will be big for me and I will hope to find a place where I can fit in and contribute to the team,” Charske said.
For travel ball, he will suit up for the Tampa BayHawks.
“Playing with the BayHawks has helped me get better because each player gets the best out of you in practice and the competition is always really good. This summer I will also be playing for my high school team and we will be traveling to different team camps to try and get more exposure and gain our team chemistry for next year.”
In terms of his biggest strengths, here is what Charske had to say regarding that.
“I think some of the attributes that distinguish me from other players are my ability to create offense when we are struggling to score and my shooting range is definitely different than most people,” he said. “I feel like I have the ability to hit big time momentum shots that really get the team going on big runs that can help us win games.”
The upside is there for Charske as he has taken an added effort to expand his game. Being gifted at one aspect always helps gain college’s attention and that is what he is doing with his 3-point shooting ability. As Charske continues to increase his value, he will draw more looks from Division II, Division III and NAIA programs.
