So far it's been a great spring for ML20. The AAU squad has won both tournaments it has played in as they get ready for the adidas Gauntlet. Kenzel Massey isn't just along for the ride either. The lanky 6-foot-7, 185-pound wing from Lakes High School has been a key contributor and the sophomore is using this club season to continue his development as a player and pick up early college interest in the process.

"This (team) is really organized so it's been better for me as a player to develop and practice against other top-tier athletes as it just makes me better for the future as I still have another year," Massey said. The coach said I'm an important part of the team, just that when it's time for me to shine I'll shine. So I'll just wait and feel things out in the game."

In the first weekend that ML20 played at the Hoop Madness Spring Showcase in Salem, Massey showed a glimpse of what he's all about. He's a sharp shooter with range, but he also showed some bounce to his step as he got out in transition to finish strong at the rim - something he's been focusing on this spring. "My athleticism - jumping and stuff because my vertical is not very high right now," Massey said. "I'm also working on my handles so I can become a two guard."

There's been some early interest in Massey from the college ranks as Cal Poly, Washington, and a few others have been in contact. There's sure to be more on the way so Masey is keeping things completely wide open. "Wherever I fit in at," Massey said.

Instead his focus remains with ML20 as the team gets set to kick off adidas Gauntlet Gold play this weeked at the West Qualifier in Irvine, California. "I think we're going to do pretty good," Massey said. "We just need to mesh, blend in, and communicate on and off the court. Our goal is to qualify for the adidas finale."

Massey currently ranks as the #7 player in the PrepHoops Washington Class of 2021 rankings.
