Years ago we crossed paths with Dakari Johnson, a middle schooler who was just coming off of an injury and looking to start his high school career off right by putting in some much needed time in the lab. It was pretty impressive to see a player his age with the type of attention to detail that he possessed as well as high work ethic as you could tell he wanted to get better every day.
Fast forward some years through his high school career and he has won his fair share of games, starting his career at Northwood Temple for the first few years before transferring to Village Christian and helping to lead them to a state championship. His toughness and scoring ability was key for the Knights in their deep run but as a senior he would head to the local public school in Hoke County to help lead their squad to a very impressive season with a ton of wins. Over the years he picked up quite a bit of interest and even some offers but due to coaching changes at the college level he finished his high career without too many options which led to the decision of a Post Grad season at Washington Academy. He already was a great student and a qualifier so academics clearly wasn’t the reason why, instead it was more exposure and recruitment reasons.
Below is a recap video basically of his time at Washington Academy and some of his standout performances. He is has heard from various D1 programs and is planning to take some visits/workouts, so he should see his recruitment rise sooner than later. Colleges that are looking for a guard that can score the ball at a very high level should give him a call for a workout, he has played in all types of situations and is one that is battle tested.
