The Grind Region
Dallas Showtyme Elite. The lone undefeated Grind Region squad Dallas Showtyme Elite put together a 7-0 record in Oklahoma City and leaving them a top of the standings. Leading the way has been Sadaidriene “Dayday” Hall, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound wing who is hearing from Nebraska, Northwestern State, Stephen F. Austin, Loyola Marymount and Texas‑Rio Grande Valley.
Team KC Black. Team KC is the definition of improvement. They opened Prep Hoops Circuit play with a 23 point loss to #1 Showtyme and since that point 10 of the 11 following games have been excellent. Team KC picked up a crucial victory over Team Griffin at the end of the OKC event leading to a six game run of wins in Denver. Most important? KC was beaten by Buddy Buckets in OKC but earned revenge with a 69-50 win in the Denver title game. A 37 point turnaround from the previous meeting between the teams.
Team Buddy Buckets Elite. Jordan Thompson and Kendural Jolly continue to be the backcourt that picks up victories. Ten wins in 13 games as a matter of fact. Jolly is the ball pressure defender and table setter where as Thompson is the playmaking wizard creating for himself and others. The guards led this team to a stretch of 10 wins in 11 circuit games.
All Arkansas Red. We are anxiously awaiting the return to the court for All Arkansas Red to see their playmaking backcourt. Carlos “CJ” Miller, Jacore Williams, and Freddy Hicks made big waves as a trio that simply couldn’t be defeated with a standard, or quality defense. They won three games by double digits and defeated Team Buddy Buckets in the opener.
Texas Impact 4:13. Impact has played in two events so far this year including their 4-1 run in OKC two weekends back. With offers from LSU, Houston, TCU, Miami, Texas A&M, and Georgetown among others, top 100 level Jonathan Aku continues to bring attention to this program. Preston Aymond is playing a scrappy game next to Aku at 6-foot-7. His latest offer is from Air Force.
The Hustle Region
Los Angeles Elite Premier. LA Elite followed their 6-0 start to the year in the Hustle Region opener with a 3-0 run in Adidas Silver Division play (3 of 4 overall on the weekend). Six-foot-4 wing Dominic Woods of Serra High School scored 60 plus points over the four game span last weekend leading the way.
Nevada Hard 2 Guard. A player you need to learn about is Ray’mon Daniels, a 6-foot-5 170 pound wing that showed off one of the best lifts on a jumper we’ve seen on the circuit so far. The percentages are high and the results helped push the Vegas kids to wins in four of five games out in LA.
California Select Black. Cali Select Black represented in the Adidas Silver Gauntlet winning three of four picking up some big number double digit victories. The only loss was to a team of International talents. West Salem (Oregon) guard Justin Scoggin was a player that impressed Prep Hoops writer Aaron Burgin making shots for Cali Select. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged a team-high 22 points per game this past year as a junior.
New Mexico D1 Ambassadors. The Ambassadors are a grinding team that has speed and size that aggressively competes against whomever they are playing. Deuce Benjamin and Ricky Lujan (Mr. Point A Minute) consistently produced for this team leading to four wins in five games in Denver.
Powerhouse Hoops (AZ). Powerhouse Arizona has played two of the last three weekends and still, they have lost just one game. This weekend at the So-Cal Spring Tip-Off in Anaheim, Powerhouse Hoops blew out two teams and then won a pair of close games against West Coast Elite and North Vegas Punishers. Jerry Iliya had some big scores in clutch moments and Trey Donaldson is a combo guard that changed games with his transition ability.
