Miramar ran away from Coral Springs Charter, 55-37, in the opener while Deerfield Beach knocked off Stranahan, 77-69, in Game 2.
In Friday’s semifinals, it will be Miramar vs. Blanche Ely at 6:30 p.m. and Dillard vs. Deerfield at 8. The championship is slated for Saturday night.
Here are Thursday’s top performers:
Degarrian Glass (2020), Deerfield Beach
The seldom-used Bucks 5-foot-10 guard, who wears No. 2, stole the show Thursday. Glass (pictured) shot 6 of 10 from the floor — including two 3-pointers — and made 8 of 8 from the free-throw line to lead Deerfield with 22 points. The 77 points is a season-high for the Bucks. “We go through it every day in practice,” Glass said of playing through the pressure down the stretch. “Hard practices … we fight.”
Inady Legiste (2020), Stranahan
The Dragons’ big man saved his best for last. Legiste took over in the paint in the fourth quarter to bring Stranahan back from 18 points down.
He scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half. Stranahan trailed 68-50 in the fourth quarter before cutting Deerfield’s lead to 70-66 with 1:19 remaining. But the Bucks were able to hold on. Legiste was 6 for 8 from the field.
Khamaury McMillan (2021), Miramar
The 6-foot guard scored in a variety of ways in leading the Patriots with 18 points. McMillan shot 7 for 12 from the field and made all four of his free throws. When Coral Springs Charter cut the margin to 41-37 in the third quarter, McMillan and Co. turned it on down the stretch to pull away. Miramar outscored CSC 17-4 in the final period.
Victor Robinson (2019), Deerfield Beach
Stranahan struggled to stop Deerfield’s drive-and-dish game. Robinson and Co. had excellent ball movement and passing all night. The left-hander’s hustle and rebounding saved several possessions. He finished with 17 points.
Deshawn Jean-Charles (2022), Miramar
The 6-6 freshman is going to be a good one. He plays with the maturity of an upperclassman. Jean-Charles made 5 of 6 shots from the field and finished in double-digits with 12 points. Junior Brent Davis also had 15 points.
Brian Dugazon (2019), Stranahan
Dugazon is fresh off an offer from UNC-Asheville. The 5-9 guard scored 18 points in the loss. Dugazon was a problem all night for the Bucks. He got to the line 11 times, making 8.
Ivan Reynolds (2020), Coral Springs Charter
The 6-4 junior was the only player in double figures for CSC with 12 points. Reynolds hit a 3-pointer and had a nice slam. The Panthers’ starters struggled as a team from the field, shooting 12 of 38.
