The hard-working 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard is playing both backcourt spots for Churchill High School this season and excelling at playing both with the ball in his hands or coming off of it. Wallace is hopeful that college coaches will be paying attention as he and the Lancers are preparing for a big stretch run.
“Our season has been very fun – we’re winning and we had a good start and we’re just hoping for a state championship,” Wallace said. “I feel like I’ve been working on my game – working on my shot, changing it differently to be more consistent. But I’m getting stronger and taller from playing football and it’s been better for me.”
As noted, Wallace is capable of playing both guard spots. He has a solid shot from three-point range and he is very active on the defensive end. After playing up at the 17U level last summer, the junior is looking forward to another run on the AAU circuit to increase a college recruitment – thus far he’s hearing from the University of Dallas and University of Seattle. “I’m just hoping to keep talking to people, go to camps, and get some offers,” Wallace said.
Before AAU ball begins there’s still a season left to play for Churchill. Despite a recent loss to cross-town rival South Eugene, Churchill ranks as the top 5A team – and very well may be the favorite to win it all in March. “As the big four – me, Brian, Kaelan, and Silas – we all like to score, so we’re trying to work together,” Wallace said. “We’ll need to equal it out if want to have a great season and win everything.”
Wallace currently ranks as the #28 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
