The athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard is continually working on getting better and improving his game for each game. A dual-sport athlete, Ross hasn’t quite decided whether he’ll play football or basketball – or both – at the college level, but he’s got some high academic opportunities to choose from once the season ends.
Currently with Tigard, Ross has been starting at one of the backcourt spots, making a difference with his athleticism. “I think the season has been going good for us,” Ross said. “I think my biggest factor right now is defense, I’m playing hard. I can improve my game on the offensive side, but I think it’s been going alright.”
On the basketball floor, Ross is a scrappy defender but he also has the potential to knock down the three. An active athlete, Ross excelled as a wide receiver and outside linebacker for the Tigers football squad and has gotten recruiting attention for both hoops and the gridiron. He’s been talking with Pacific for both sports and with Linfield and Lewis & Clark for football. Ross is currently still looking at all of his options.
“Honestly I don’t know right now,” Ross said. “I’m just going to see how everything turns out. I might play a little bit of spring ball. I really like the education part of D3 – there are super small class sizes and you’re really personal with the professors and all that. But they’re all kind of similar in that aspect, so it’s going to be a tough decision which one I’ll go to.”
Since college can wait, Ross is hoping that his senior season will end well with the Tigers – one in which Tigard hopes to make it to the state tournament. “We’ve got to go hard every single drill, every single practice,” Ross said. “We’ve just got to play hard the rest of the season. I think we have really good potential, but it’s a matter of putting in the hours to get to our goals.”
Ross currently ranks as the #73 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
