It’s his size and shooting ability that are most intriguing. But he’s got a more well-rounded game than just that.
“I can shoot the ball pretty well, but I’m actually pretty good at getting to the hoop. I try and not settle for 3s, I try and get the to hoop,” said Padilla. “Also, I’m really lengthy, and it helps me to get by my defenders.”
Padilla described himself as a leader and go-to guy for the Hawks this season. He’s averaging 16 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Padilla and Co. already qualified for state, and will play Sonora in a section championship tonight.
When his junior season is finished, Padilla will jump right into his offseason regiment. He’s still unsure of what team he’ll play with for the upcoming 17U season. Some programs that have been reaching out to him are Lakeshow, Matt Barnes Elite, Hotshots Elite and some others.
So far, Padilla’s got Eastern Washington and Cal State San Marcos looking at him,” Those are the two main schools I would say are looking at me and recruiting me right now,” said Padilla.
He added: “The main goal is to try and get a free education with a scholarship. And this offseason, I‘m just looking to get on some more schools’ radars and whatnot, and hopefully get a couple scholarships.”
