Clutch factor: Kyren Williams
Kevin Williams only notched three points in the Del City win; a free throw in the third quarter and a 2-pointer in the fourth quarter. Fortunately for Williams and the Eagles, that 2-pointer was the game-winning bucket, laid in by Williams on the rebound of a missed shot with less than ten seconds to go. After landing the game-winning bucket and successfully capturing the win, the junior forward ran to the Del City bench, stood on a chair, and received praise from the the Del City section of the gym. Enjoy the win, Kyren.
Quentin Woodson can dominate the inside game
Quentin Woodson dropped 22 points in the loss, matching his uniform number and leading the game in scoring. Woodson made his money in the post on Friday night, dominating the inside game and drawing fouls to aid the Titans’ efforts. The sophomore has a very bright career ahead of hisself.
Del City could be a scary team
The Del City Eagles have been a great, consistent ball team this year but may not always receive the credit their play warrants. I thought the Eagles had a fantastic showing on Friday night. Getting off to a slow start early, they dealt some damage to the Titans in their quest to take the lead. In what would come to be one of the most exciting quarters of basketball in the Titan Classic so far, the Eagles posted 23 points in the fourth quarter, holding Carl Albert to 12. It was an entertaining feat to witness.
These teams do not like each other
The Mid-Del matchups have had a history of being very physical and standoffish and Friday night was no exception. The 14-2 Del City Eagles (5A No. 2) and 9-8 Carl Albert Titans (5A No. 6) squared off in a game for all of the bragging rights on Friday night. As it played out, the Eagles would come out with the cut-throat, 2-point win, but not before receiving a pair of technical fouls in the third quarter.
Does Carl Albert need to iron some things out?
The Carl Albert Titans led by as many as 17 — 19-2 to start the game, to be exact. After squandering what appeared to be a sure-fire win in the second half, an important question to ask is; do the Titans have some cleaning up to do? Undoubtedly, the Titans have a talented roster and a very athletic lineup, but losses like this certainly leave you scratching your head. I’ll let this one be up to you.
