The Week Ahead: December 3-8
We’ve got one week under our belts and before you know it, Christmas tournaments will be in full swing. Here’s a look ahead to the best games on the slate in Week 2.
Monday, December 3:
- Good game in Northern Kentucky as Scotty Draud and Beechwood bring a 3-0 record into a match-up with 2-0 Scott and Trey Meister.
- Mercer County looks for it’s first win as they head to Garrard County to face Brayden Sebastian and the Lions.
- Big early season game in the 3rd region as Kobe Poole and Breckinridge County travel to Owensboro to face Owensboro Catholic.
- The game of the night is in Louisville as Collins and Dayvion McKnight tangle with Trinity and Louisville signee David Johnson.
Tuesday, December 4:
- Paintsville looks to make a statement by knocking off Knox County Central in the WYMT Mountain Classic.
- Big one in the 4th region as Glasgow and Nik Sorrell go to Bowling Green to face Isaiah Mason and the Purples.
- Madisonville takes their talents to Christian County in a big early season game in the second region.
- Madison Central plays at George Rogers Clark in a game between two potential region champions.
- Ballard looks to bounce back from a whooping they took at Scott County. They take on JJ Kalakon and Waggener.
Wednesday, December 5:
- 6th region title hopeful Jeffersontown heads to the 7th region and takes on Eastern with seniors Jacob Robinson and Ethan Coury.
- Newport’s senior laden group takes on Boone County, who will be looking for their first win of the young season.
Thursday, December 6:
- Webster County and Caldwell County renew their rivalries as Senior Derrin Boyd leads the Tigers to take on the Trojans.
- Trevon Smith and Taylor County tangle with John Shoulders and Hart County.
- A potential regional title game in Lexington as Kyle Rode and Lexington Christian take on Michael Moreno and Scott County.
Friday, December 7:
- The 9th district rivalries renew as Owensboro takes on Daviess County and Apollo squares off against Owensboro Catholic.
- Frederick Douglass looks to upset Scott County in a district game.
- Central heads to Male in what should be one of the best games in the city on Friday.
- Newport and Campbell County could be a sneaky pick for best game in the state.
- Pendleton County and George Rogers Clark renew their rivalry as Dontaie Allen and the Wildcats take on Jordan Graham and the Cardinals.
Saturday, December 8:
- Two of the top 2021 players go head to head as Scotty Draud and Beechwood go up against Lexington Catholic and Ben Johnson.
- Scott and Henry Clay go to battle as Chad Ohmer takes on Keaston Brown in a good guard matchup.
- The Battle for Louisville happens again as Fern Creek and Trinity renew their rivalry.
