The Knights captured the title of the Westside Winter Jam this past weekend, defeating three straight 3A schools as Gregg tallied his first-ever triple double in the finals against Amity on Saturday night.
“It was good playing good competition and playing up a level,” Gregg said. “I think we showed we could compete with the big dogs I guess. I feel like I’m playing good and my confidence is high. My team is playing great too so that helps. We start league on Monday and we’re feeling good. Hopefully we can win state again and go back-to-back – that’s our goal. We’re going to play hard every game and compete.”
Against Amity, Gregg was a man amongst boys. He piled up 29 points, 20 rebounds, and ten assists, essentially doing whatever he wanted to on the basketball floor. With his game on a roll, Columbia Christian will now step into three league games before they head on to play in the Les Schwab Invitational next week. It’s going to be a tremendous experience for Gregg and his teammates and he’s really looking forward to it.
“We start with Gonzaga Prep so we’ll see how we do against the really big dogs,” Gregg said. “Hopefully we can compete well. We’re in the 8:30 game, which is prime time, so it’ll be fun.”
Things continue to motor along for Gregg on the recruiting front. Since the last time we chatted, he’s picked up new offers from Oregon State and Texas, and a school he’s longed to hear from has started to touch base with him regularly. “Gonzaga is getting in contact now so that’s good,” Gregg said. “And Texas, we call every week to keep in touch. We’re building a relationship with their coaches too so that’s good.”
Gregg currently also holds offers from Washington State, Eastern Washington, Portland, and Portland State. He currently ranks as the #2 player in the PrepHoops Class of 2021 rankings.
