Here are some players to watch:
Antwaan Kimmons, Sr., Tartan
Kimmons is one of the best unsigned seniors and one of the best pure scorers in the state. He doesn’t have great size, but he’s a blur with the ball in his hands and very good finishing around the rim or drawing fouls. He’s got to be great for Tartan to be good, and he usually is.
Jeremy Beckler, Sr., White Bear Lake
The Bears are off to a 7-0 start with really good wins over Cambridge-Isanti, Cretin-Derham Hall and Mahtomedi and Beckler’s been a force through all of it. The 6-foot-8 senior is averaging 24 points and nine boards. His 36 point, 15 rebound effort in the win over Mahtomedi was one of the best individual performances on the season.
Charlie Gorres, Sr., Park of Cottage Grove
One of the most well-rounded players in the state, Gorres has been stuffing the stat sheet for the Wolfpack for a long time and is off to a great start this year. The 6-foot-4 swingman is averaging 18 points, 11 rebounds and better than six assists per game, pairing with Domenik Block to form a deadly duo.
Blake Remme, Jr., Spring Lake Park
Remme’s taken his game to another level as an upperclassmen, helping the Panthers get out to a 6-1 start to the season. The junior forward is averaging 17 points per game and has played a big role in several key wins already this season.
Will Tinjum, Sr., Chisago Lakes
Tinjum’s been a productive player for the Wildcats for a while now and he’s having a very good senior season despite the team’s early struggles. The 6-foot-5 forward is skilled in the low and mid post and is active on the offensive and defensive glass. He’s averaging nearly 18 points per game.
Sam Schwartz, Sr., White Bear Lake
Schwartz has been a stud for the Bears so far this year, averaging 22.8 points and 10 rebounds, teaming up with Jeremy Beckler to form arguably the best duo in the state.
Domenik Block, Sr., Park of Cottage Grove
One of the most dynamic wing players and top unsigned seniors in the state, Block’s a terrific scorer from all three levels and has athleticism and explosiveness few can match. He’s off to a terrific start to the season, averaging better than 25 points per game.
Gabe Myren, Jr., Spring Lake Park
Myren’s averaging better than 14 points per game for a Panthers team that has exceeded expectations early in the season.
Isaac Tessier, Sr., White Bear Lake
Tessier’s been awesome for the Bears, averaging 15 points, six assists and four steals, engineering the team’s 7-0 start from the point guard spot. He was impressive in the win over Mahtomedi as well, scoring 18 points and dishing out nine assists.
Isaac Burns, Jr., Fridley
Burns was one of the top players for the Tigers last year and he’s taken his game to another notch early in his upperclass years. The junior guard is averaging better than 18 points per game.
Miles Mendes, Sr., Farmington
Farmington’s gotten off to a slow start on the year but if the Tigers are going to turn things around, Mendes is a guy that will have to lead them. The senior swingman is averaging 10.6 points per game on the season and he does a lot in terms of defending and playmaking.
