Continue ReadingThe season is young but there have been some impressive performances so far this year by guys in the 2019 Class. Here’s a quick look at which Seniors have raised their stock since the first games tipped off last month.
- Beechwood’s CJ Brannen – Previously unranked in our 2019 rankings, Brannen is having a strong early season for the Tigers. Off to a 7-0 start, Brannen is averaging just shy of 15 points per game to go with 5 rebounds per game. His shooting percentages are high and more importantly, Brannen is providing Senior leadership for a Beechwood team that needs it. The nephew of NKU’s head coach John Brannen, CJ could find a home at the D3 or NAIA level or could be an asset to a team like NKU as a walk-on.
- Bowling Green’s Trevor Dennis – A Senior on a team dominated by younger players, the shooting guard is having a great start to his season for the Purples. After 4 games Dennis is averaging a hair under 20 points per game and shooting the ball extremely well, including 48% from three. He should find his way into our next batch of 2019 class rankings.
- Lafayette’s Evan Dreux – Dreux isn’t putting up monster numbers but when you see him with the ball in his hands you can see his value to a team. Evan is a floor general who knows how to run a team and is a really good passer. He’s at his best in the open floor and playing with pace and is in the mix for top point guard in the city of Lexington this year.
- Paris’ Jalen Byars – The 6’6 forward is having a breakout season for a Paris team that needs some veteran presence after graduating a lot of talent last season. Averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds per game while shooting 55% from the floor, Jalen is a bright spot on a Paris team that has stumbled out of the gate this season.
- Mercer County’s Carter Baughman – The point guard is averaging nearly 30 points per game this season while carrying the offensive load for the Titans. Carter has been a starter for several years but never been the focal point of the offense until this season. He’s also gotten an offer from Asbury since the season started.
- Oldham County’s Christian Harper – His career thus far had been as a role player for the Colonels. Now a Senior, Harper is averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 63% from the field. Some expected a down year for Oldham County but Christian’s strong play has them off to a 4-1 start.
