Prospect Spotlight: Max Jones (2020)
A sharpshooter first and foremost, Max Jones is a rising talent at Clearwater High.
The 6’3″, 187-pounder has no offers or interest yet, but Jones turned heads at most college team camps he went to this summer including at USF where head coach Brian Gregory mentioned his jersey number multiple times.
Jones averaged 11.9 PPG with 18 double digit performances for the 16-10 Tornadoes as a sophomore. He had two 20 point outings including a 22-point game against Boca Ciega and a 21-point performance against Largo.
“My sophomore year was a really good experience because I got to play at a higher level,” Jones told Prep Hoops. “I gained more confidence by playing against better teams and doing really well against those teams.”
This summer, Jones played with Team X-Factor, a program he’s been with for a year.
He pointed to his biggest strengths as his ability to see the floor and his shooting touch. He’s aiming to improve his speed and agility.
Jones is in for a steady campaign on a Clearwater squad that plays fast paced basketball with purpose. Expect him to average double digits once again with some even bigger games. Gaining confidence and taking smart shots, Jones is a 2020 prospect to keep a close eye on this season.
