Prospect spotlight: Isaad Solano (2019)
Isaad Solano will be a vital component to the SLAM Charter basketball team this season.
The dynamic senior guard is inspired to make this season his best yet.
“Issad has shown through hard work and dedication that improvement really is in the work you put in,” SLAM Charter coach Thomas Roque said. “He has the potential and tools to be a great two-way guard at the next level. I look forward to working with him every day.”

What the awards mean to him: I saw the things that I need to get better at and I want to take the next step in my game.
His mindset on the court: To lock up my man and help the team on offense.
Strengths: Slashing and shooting.
Areas of improvement: Dunking and shooting.
Favorite basketball memory: Dunking in traffic on two people. The whole crowd was cheering and it made me feel proud.
What he loves the most about basketball: That I do it for my family.
How he tries to be a good teammate: I always say positive things. I motivate my teammates and I always push them to succeed. I tell them to keep working hard, go all out and listen to coach.
Best advice from his coaches: They helped me with improving my game. My coaches have given me great support whenever I need it on and off the court. Coach Roque has taught me to be a better person and have good attitude and character. They tell me to always play like it’s the last game because you never know who’s watching.
What basketball has taught him about life: That you can be losing everything in one minute but in the next everything can change.
Player he looks up to: Kobe Bryant because he always did what the team needed to win.

Goals on and off the court: On the court my goals are always to play as if it were the last game of my life and outside the court to be a better person every day and to continue improving my education.
