Pinellas County Fall League: Tuesday Night Notes
On Tuesday night, the fourth week of the Pinellas County Fall League took place at the Ross Norton Recreation Center in Clearwater, Fla.
Four games were played with two 15-minute halves that included a running clock.
Here is a look at the five top performers on the night.
2020 F Josh Berenbaum (Calvary Christian)
Stronger and a more proven attacker, 2020 Calvary Christian forward Josh Berenbaum is finding his groove right now. In a win over Largo, the lengthy Berenbaum displayed his tough work in transition and effort inside. Always a sound shooter, he’s being more assertive and that bodes for the Warriors.
2019 F Gilbert Mendez (Clearwater)
There wasn’t a better player on the floor then Gilbert Mendez in the nightcap between Clearwater and Palm Harbor. The 2019 Clearwater forward was active on the boards, putting back his lay-ins and jumpers frequently. Mendez plays with speed and purpose and it was noticeable.
2020 G Tyler Proper (Mitchell)
In the opening game of the Tuesday slate, Tyler Proper established himself in both halves for Mitchell. In a win over Hard2Guard, a local travel team, Proper made it clear he’s able to score on his own, distribute and pace the floor.
2019 G/F Jared McGarrity (Countryside)
Prior to exiting with an ankle injury in the second half of a win over Dunedin, Jared McGarrity was playing solid basketball. The 2019 guard/forward transferred over from Pinellas Park and it has been a blessing for a Cougars team that graduated a whopping 11 seniors. McGarrity shoots at a high clip from outside and sets a lot of up for his side.
2021 G Mikey Shane (Countryside)
Solid and reliable as a point man, Mikey Shane continues to shine as the lead man for Countryside. Undersized and young, Shane doesn’t let that stop himself from playing smart and doing the right things for his team. He is a nice 3-point shooter, but his confidence as an attacker is growing as well.
