Prospect Spotlight: Miles Amos (2019)
A top prospect in Nor-Cal’s class of 2019, 6-foot point guard Miles Amos is a guy that could see a lot of action on the recruitment trail these next two weeks.
He’s currently got a bevy of Division I interest coming his way. And it’s his ability to make his teammates better that stands out most about the floor general.
“I’m definitely best in transition and I love getting my teammates involved. I love running the offense, I feel like if my teammates are most involved in the game then we have the best chance of winning,” said Amos. “So, I want to get everybody involved every time I step on the floor.”
As a junior at Stuart Hall last season, Amos helped lead his team all the way to the Division 4 state title game. He was the starting point guard on that squad and averaged 18 points and five assists per game.
“I was able to play my style of basketball, up-tempo, run-and-gun, and my teammates were able to compliment that really well,” said Amos.
The sting of that state title loss to still lingers for Amos and his teammates. They plan on being back in the title game next season, with a different result this time.
“Since I’m a senior now, and we have our whole starting lineup returning, we’re going to be at everybody’s throat all all season,” said Amos. “We’re all working this offseason to be better shooters and getting stronger and just getting all-around better.”
Ahead of his senior season with the Knights, Amos has been spending his spring and summer playing with one of the areas better grassroots teams, Bay City Select 17U. His offseason’s gone very well.
“We were able to mount some good victories in the spring. And we’re making a push as we head into the end of the summer,” said Amos.
As for his recruitment, it’s UC-Irvine, Loyola-Chicago, Pacific, San Francisco, Southern Utah and Cal State Eastbay that have been showing interest. “Recruiting is a complex process, but it’s a real fun process and I’m really interested in getting to know more about it,” said Amos.
“I haven’t gone on many visits yet, but I’m looking forward to doing that as soon as AAU is done.”
He added: “This summer I’m looking to prove that basically I’m an all around player. I think some people think I’m one-dimensional. I want to show that I’ve been working so hard this offseason, and that I’m actually one of the top players in my area.”
