College Prospect Combine 2020 Standouts Part 2
Northwest Guilford Guard Christian Hampton: He showed out in the combine sessions as well as the 5 on 5 play throughout the day, he showed that he is a difficult player to contain and is one that D1 programs are already on. Athleticism wise he tested as one of the better performers in the building, which translated very well to the court as he put down one of the top dunks of the day.
New Life Christian Wing Reggie Raynor Jr: 6’5 with impressive athletic ability, and a skillset that is improving every day, he continues to improve and should have a nice season. On the defensive end of the floor he brings a nice amount of effort and energy, not allowing his opponent to get to where he wants with ease.
Terry Sanford Wing Yates Johnson: All signs point to Yates having a breakout season this upcoming year, he is fundamentally sound, has a high IQ and doesn’t force things. For a college wing prospect he has nice size already at 6’5, he moves well without the ball, can shoot it from deep and will fit into a college system well as he is a very coachable player.
Terry Sanford HS Guard Jay Hickman: His role for his high school team next season will allow him to show what he’s fully capable of, he can shoot the ball well from deep and has the tools to be a solid defender. It looks like he’s grown some more and is filling out his frame so it will be interesting to see exactly where he finishes out before it’s all said and done.
Lejeune HS Guard Malachi Borders: He’s what we would define as a combo guard as you can play him at the PG or SG spot. Throughout the day he showed the ability to do both, he scored the ball but also ran the offense at a solid rate and showed that he could be a solid defender.
