2018 Inspire Prep F Raymond Dieng talks Polk State commitment, summer ball and more
2018 forward Raymond Dieng has made his decision.
The lengthy and athletic Inspire Prep leader is headed to Polk State.
A 6’7″, 215-pounder, Dieng says Eastern Florida, College of Central Florida and Moorehead State were the other schools that were highly interested in his services.
Playing for a first year program in Inspire Prep in Orlando, Dieng says there were a lot of ups and downs but things settled down.
“I learned a lot during my senior year,” Dieng told Prep Hoops. “With the help of my coaches and teammates, I saw my confidence grow in several areas, including my court vision and passing game, my on-ball defense, as well as my low post offense and defense.”
This summer, Dieng has been running with Infinite Skillz, his first year with the program.
“It’s been a productive summer so far,” he said. “As far as what I’ve learned; it’s mostly been about sharpening my skills and knowledge of the game. The pace is faster over the summer, so keeping up with the pace has been an adjustment.”
In terms of his biggest skills, Dieng pointed to his rebounding, transition play, court vision and ability to finish through contact. He says he wants to improve his 3-point shooting and ballhandling under pressure.
Dieng can play as an undersized big man at the next level and do it well. His frame, smarts and natural smoothness give him a chance to earn early playing time in the fall.
