Recruiting Report: Dakota Kurahara (2018 Hood River HS)
The spring has been fruitful for Dakota Kurahara. The long 6-foot-7, 175-pound forward from Hood River has been playing on the AAU circuit with Nike Team Northwest Team Knight and as he’s showcased his game, he’s gotten enough attention to make a decision on his future.
“It’s been great getting out and getting looked at by colleges,” Kurahara said. “I’ve also been working on running and finishing my shots.”
Kurahara runs the floor well for a big man and recently earned some praise for his shot-blocking ability. He’s still a work in progress on the offensive end but two schools are ready to sign him on – Portland Community College and Linn-Benton. Of the two, he has a leader.
“I like Linn-Benton,” Kurahara said. “I got to visit and they have a nice campus. I’m still open but I’m close to deciding. I’ll probably make a decision in the next month or so.”
This past season at Hood River, Kurahara averaged 11.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.8 blocked shots.
